This is one of our favorite white wines: Nigl "Freiheit" Grüner veltliner. Grüner veltliner was the hot wine, not too long ago, but luckily the shine has faded leaving us to quietly enjoy a bottle without feeling needlessly hip. It's a semi-aromatic variety, along the lines of Chardonnay, but with much more verve and delicacy. The nose is full of apple and apricot, but on the palate the mineral realy shines through. Drink it with anything, drink it alone, but drink it if you have the chance.

Today we made the maple gastrique for the Dining Room bar. We use it in our Apple Cocktail with Old Weller Bourbon, Liard's Applejack and apple cider. It's delicious!

Castagna has been on my top 10 PDX restaurants list for a long time now and that will not change any time soon. Clean, simple, smart and some of the best over all service in this city. Thank you! Marques Marchand Guest Satisfaction Ambassador Portland Marriott City Center

This was one of my best dining experiences to date. The food presentation is unlike anything I've ever seen and the tastes of creative food combinations kept me and my husband smiling throughout the night. The meal is spendy but well-worth it. I strongly believe that everyone in Portland should eat here at least once a year. If you're visiting the area, make sure this is on your list of restaurants to visit for a one-of-a-kind dining experience.

Our server was willing to answer all the questions about the menu and didn't rush us with the bill and yes it's expensive but not over the top and it was a special occasion so it made sense to me. I plan to return there just to challenge them with my French! That's the only thing I forgot to do. I also learned that if you space the meals, you get filled up quickly. I can't rate the meal any higher because I didn't have anything to compare with, but it was great. Overall, it was a great experience!

Unbelievably delicious food, and a myriad of little "snacks" (smoked butters, dehydrated yogurt with herbed aoli & fish roe, purple carrot leather, etc..) leading up to the four-course meal. Everything was fantastic. I'm rating it high on value because I've had similarly priced meals that left me hungry, and after Castagna, they would leave me sorely disappointed.

Great food and even better service! We had dietary restrictions and without even asking, the chef catered to our needs with substitutions - completely unexpected but very much appreciated. The food was excellent as expected. Overall, terrific experience!

We experienced a long wait on a Thursday evening at the Cafe side of the restaurant. The food was good but each dish seemed to be missing something to take it to the next level. For example the peach tiramisu was more of a trifle than tiramisu as there wasn't even a hint of expresso flavor or ladyfingers.

What an experience! It's spendy, but every course will intrigue, challenge, and wow you.
