Weston Johnson, a former University of Wyoming linebacker and Sheridan High School assistant coach, is currently fighting for his life.

According to the Facebook page "Never Flinch," which was established to support Johnson as he battled metastatic melanoma, a form of cancer, Johnson's family was with the former UW captain Tuesday, but the prognosis for recovery didn't look good.

University of Wyoming Pres. Bob Sternberg resigns post after weeks of turmoil

http://bit.ly/1d2lMMQ | Bob Sternberg stepped down from his post as the University of Wyoming president Thursday, only 137 days after taking the job July 1.

“[I]t became obvious that things were not working out as I, or probably anyone else, had hoped for,” Sternberg wrote in an email to the Star-Tribune on Thursday. “I left [the conversation with Bostrom] feeling I most likely did not have full support from the board, and when you are president, you need their support.”

Consultant calls for culture change, higher expectations for Wyoming athletics

A consulting firm cites a “culture of acceptance and validation” that has resulted in sustained mediocrity in University of Wyoming athletics, most notably football and men’s basketball.

“There is a pervading opinion that ‘good enough is good enough’ in football and basketball,” the report states. “Thus, there is not a sense of urgency and accountability that accompanies programs with high expectations for competitive success.”
