I am a painter, mixed media artist and poet living in Upstate New York. I have roots in northern Maine, where I was born and raised in a paper mill town along the Penobscot; in West Virginia, the college “home among the hills” where I received an undergraduate degree in journalism; and Portland, Oregon, where I started craving city living and a stronger sense of myself.
My poetry is published locally and nationally and has been nominated for a pushcart prize. I read and feature at open mics throughout Upstate NY. In 2010, I was the “almost” poet laureate of Smitty’s Tavern in Voorheesville, NY, placing as first runner-up in the inaugural contest. In 2015, I finished my MFA in poetry through Ashland University.
