HANG PICTURES PERFECTLY WITH THIS HIDDEN IPHONE FEATURE
Oh, hello. I didn't see you there. I was just hanging a picture in my guest room. After I hang it, I'll stare at it for hours trying to figure out if it's straight, and I will drag my husband into this room for days to ask him "IS IT STRAIGHT?!" until he begins to avoid me. It was after I hung this entire gallery wall that I found the secret level on my iPhone that makes easy work of hanging things straight. Instructions on the blog today.

IS TECHNOLOGY HURTING YOUR RELATIONSHIP?
My husband and I will be married 20 years this May, so we both remember a time before personal technology entered our marital orbit. I’m happy to say that we’re a closely knit unit and a great partnership. And yet a mistress makes tiny assaults on our relationship daily. I’m not talking about another woman, but rather lots of other women, and men too. And YouTubers and fake news and cat videos and gossip sites— all packed neatly in a device that’s pocket-sized and nestles itself between us on a regular basis. Whether it’s his phone or mine, a laptop, tablet or the television, all that connectivity can make it harder than ever to stay connected to the people right next to you. I know that I’m the most important person in my husband’s life (and he knows the same), but when a smartphone diverts so much attention, I can’t help but feel like I’ve slid down the importance scale a couple notches.

THE KITCHEN GADGET THAT’S GIVING MY HEALTH A REBOOT THIS MONTH
Sometimes, a little refresh is necessary… and a company that helps people sip on delicious, nutrient-packed juice pressed from fruits and veggies understands that. Just about a year after IT DEBUTED to lots of wellness-tech buzz, JUICERO—often referred to as the “Keurig of cold-pressed juice” thanks to its innvoative, single-serving style—is making some changes.

SOME VALENTINE’S DAY GIFTS I WOULDN’T MIND GETTING…
I have mixed feelings about Valentine’s Day. Is it a commercially-driven holiday, meant to coerce you into sharing Hallmark cards, candy (that I really could do without), and unnecessarily-expensive dinners with your S.O.? Totally. But there’s also something lovely about jerking yourself out of the everyday routine and making a gesture toward the one you love. Celebrating love. I can get on board with that.

ORGANIZING YOUR TECH STUFF
Gadgets come with cords and cables. And chargers. And dongles. And it’s all a big tangled mess in no time if you don’t have tools to organize tech stuff. I’m always looking for just the right bag, pouch, strap, or valet to keep my tech things from becoming a mess— it’s easier to keep track of all those little buggers if they’re organized and clearly marked too.

EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT BUYING A TV
Hey gang! Happy Wednesday, and Happy February (WHAAAT?!). Can you believe we’re plowing our way through winter? It’s flying by for me. Anywhale… I’ve been writing up a storm on Apartment Therapy, and we launched a hat trick of articles about HOW TO BUY A TELEVISION. I’ve linked to them all below, so you can brush up on your lingo, learn what’s worth knowing (and what you can ignore) about features, and even see a comparison of a high-priced and low-priced model so you can see what you get for the money.

I’M A MAC… MY DAUGHTER’S AN ANDROID?
So what happens when you’re a devout Apple user and your daughter is firmly in the PC/Android camp? We did a little interview below to share our thoughts. As much as fans of each platform like to duke it out to the death, you’ll see that our perspectives aren’t really black and white.

TODAY SHOW: LEARN SOMETHING NEW THIS YEAR WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONAL APPS
This time of year, possibilities seem infinite. Master the ukulele? Why not? Learn Swedish? Ja! I’m even inspired to revisit knitting— sure, I’ve tried to learn a million times, but maybe I’ve just had the wrong teacher (sorry, mom!); maybe I need the guidance of an instructional app to finally master it.

SHOES MY FEET WOULD LIKE TO WEAR THIS SPRING, PLEASE.
The weather is cats-and-dogs rain in Los Angeles. And this week I’m in New York City, where it’s… also raining. It’s enough to make a girl want to escape into the wonderland that is e-commerce— sitting in my hotel room, I’m dreaming of spring shoes I’ll be hopping around in when the weather is a little less doomsday and a little more delightful. I’ve been lusting after some of these for a while, and some have just caught my eye. All have my feet saying, “yes please.”

READER QUESTIONS: ARE VOICE-ACTIVATED DEVICES LISTENING ON MY PRIVATE CONVERSATIONS?
As soon as tech devices began offering voice-command activation, consumers started wondering: are these devices listening to my private conversations and sending them back to the companies that built them?
