Are you a Caltrain bike rider? Let us know if you get bumped from a full train. Fill in the form and let us know the direction and time it happened. You can use your mobile device at the station or wait until you get home to do it. The data is provided to the public and to our Bicycle Advisory Committee. Yesterday, Caltrain signed contracts with Stadler Rail and Balfour Beatty to begin construction of the electric rail cars (EMUs) and infrastructure for a modernized and electrified Caltrain. This milestone marks a great step in the evolution of our region. The project is expected to be complete in 2020 and it will reduce emissions by 97% while increasing efficiency and capacity.

Commuter rail service along the San Francisco Peninusla, through the South Bay to San Jose and Gilroy.
Introduction
The San Mateo County Transit District has worked with San Francisco and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority since the 1980s to save and operate Caltrain, which runs from San Francisco to San Jose/Gilroy. The Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board operates and owns the Caltrain rail corridor and has contracted with the District to be the managing agency.

The Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board is a tri-county board, comprised of nine representatives, three each from San Francisco, San Mateo County Transit District and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority.

The JPB purchased the Caltrain right of way in 1991 and assumed responsibility for operating the service in 1992.
