Did you know that over 9 million people need help in the Lake Chad area?

In Nigeria and parts of Cameroon, Chad and Niger over 2.6 million people have been forced to flee their homes. Millions more are in urgent need of food, water, shelter and medical care.

The scale of the crisis is unimaginable. Please help; donate to our appeal.

"Luckily my husband had recently done a first aid course and knew what to do. He was already running the cold water as I carried my distressed daughter through to the kitchen."

Last week, despite freezing weather and even snow, more than 18 boats, each carrying up to 45 people, washed up on Lesvos, Greece.

The Hellenic Red Cross rescue and first aid teams were on hand to help them to safety and to treat hypothermia cases.

Unfortunately, a five-year-old child and two women with severe hypothermia after a grueling journey across the Aegean Sea could not be saved.

All animal lovers know that petting a dog helps reduce stress. That's why we’ve joined forces with Carmarthenshire Therapy Dogs to help bring comfort to lonely and isolated people.

Twm, an eight-year-old Kelpie Collie, has recently been visiting people in Carmarthenshire.

“I really look forward to the visits from Twm,” says great-grandmother Adrienne. “He is such a sweet and affectionate creature - he really lifts my spirits.”

We want all young people to learn first aid at school.

Along with British Heart Foundation and St John Ambulance, we're campaigning to get first aid on the curriculum.

Please take a minute and email your MP to support the Every Child a Lifesaver campaign: http://bit.ly/1VRjIKg
