Around 3.7 million people over 65 live alone in the UK - in fact, we're the lonely 'capital' of Europe.

We're very excited to be nominated as The Co-operative's charity partner - but we need your help to win!

If we win, this partnership will raise millions of pounds to tackle loneliness and support thousands of people in the UK with no-one else to turn to.

All Co-Op staff and members can vote! Do you know someone who works for Co-Op? Are you a member? We have until 12th July - every vote counts!

Today is World Red Cross Red Crescent Day!

To celebrate, we’re looking at the impact our fundamental principles have, 50 years after they were created.

Nihal is from occupied Golan, in the Middle East. She recently married a man living in neighbouring Syria.

Their wedding had to take place in the demilitarized zone, after the Red Cross talked to armed groups in and around the area.

Thanks to our neutrality, the wedding could go ahead. By not taking sides in any conflict we’ve won us the trust of states and armed groups around the world.

Neutrality is one of our seven fundamental principles: http://www.fundamentalprinciples.today/

The Red Cross is providing food, blankets and other essential items to more than 25,000 people who have fled the violence in north-eastern Nigeria and sought refuge in neighbouring Niger.

Have you got first aid ‪#‎RappedUp‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬?

Here’s the first in a new series of rap videos to show parents some simple first aid techniques to help their little ones.

Our rappers aren't just cute – they also provide handy tips on how to handle common crisis situations, with a bit of help from our free baby and child first aid app.

Here's a rap about poisoning; over the next few months, the Red Cross will release two more bling-tastic first aid videos about burns and febrile seizures. Don’t miss them!

No need to be mean about me mistaking your name Laurence. Rap can be way to extreme and have cursing and offensive slang. I'm not gonna judge you because your opinion is yourselves opinion..

Please donate to our Yemen crisis appeal: http://bit.ly/1N7PrGd

Deadly clashes and air strikes have killed hundreds of people and seriously injured many more.

People are struggling to find food and water. Medical supplies to help the wounded and sick are running low.

We can bring vital help, but we need your support.

It takes more than doctors to #beatEbola.

After a year the virus is now declining, but there's no room for complacency.

See how our volunteers and staff have been fighting Ebola in West Africa: http://webapps.redcross.org.uk/Ebola/

The Met Office has issued a yellow 'severe weather warning' for snow in Wales, across the Midlands and parts of northern England.

Our teams are on standby tonight in case of emergency, but you can prepare yourself and your home against any severe weather: http://bit.ly/1sXVhgi

Helping people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are.
Introduction

We are a volunteer-led humanitarian organisation that helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are.

We enable vulnerable people at home and overseas to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their own communities.
