I ride to work most days and I agree with you that motorists, ensconced in their big metal boxes can be terrifying and inattentive.
When bikes don't pay attention, there is little impact. When drivers don't, tragedy ensues.
Meanwhile, the best way to improve the situation isn't to drive a bigger wedge between the two groups, or to make life in the city we share worse
During winter, only a very few committed folks like you, Dennis, will be riding to work, but the impact on traffic will still be there.
We all must share the roads; but I for one am not sure that a doubling of travel times for the majority of citizens using the roads was the best compromise. Again, I await more data.
