BNSF Logistics in Calgary, Alberta recently coordinated the move of a stacker/reclaimer and the accessories. The cargo arrived in seven lots from Asia, Africa and Europe to British Columbia in Canada. The biggest pieces, that were too big for trucking, were directly discharged from the ocean vessel to a barge, and from barge transport to the job-site, where BNSFL built our own offloading and landing site, offloading direct to site and positioning of the pieces for the customer. The remainder of the breakbulk moved via truck. Additionally, all containers were received from the port, brought to a stripping facility, cargo was offloaded from the containers and delivered in the defined sequence to the jobsite by truck. We used 40 ton heavy-duty, self-steering remote controlled dolly-systems for transport of the heaviest items. Multiple transports were running parallel together and needed to be coordinated as the customer and the site had a very specific delivery sequence, a mix of containers, truckloads and oversized pieces, that needed to be followed throughout. No matter the project size or location, we continue to live by our tag line “Yeah, We Can Do That”!
