Despite study after study showing miles driven declining at rapid rates and even more studies showing them not coming back. Despite study after study showing that the youth market is choosing to not participate in automobile culture via non-purchase and instead choosing a transportational lifestyle that include public transportation, bicycles, & walking. While a growing number of today's youth aren't even bothering to attain a drivers license, FDOT is still proposing idiotic and unnecessary expressway systems like the one attached.
Why can't FDOT put the funds for that unneeded project to repairing all the projects they have gotten so very wrong over the last 80 years. Examples here in Jax:
Timuquana/103rd St. where over 200 people have lost their lives in the last 5 years because of a 7 lane high speed road with crosswalks over half a mile apart separating residents from shopping and work.
Lack of bike/ped access across bridges in a city crisscrossed by waterways.
6 lanes of terror know as State & Union St. in Downtown.
The 9 lane limited access highway know as Atlantic/Beach Blvds that bisect St Nicholas.
Every state road in and around Arlington. Etc., Etc., and all around the State.
