Greetings!
I hope 2016 is treating you well, and you are neck deep in living the dream 😄

I began the year by jumping off grid, and instead of grinding away in usual nonstop 24-7 style, I took a huge break, inhaled life, and unplugged from everything else: no phone, no internet, no traveling – just a return to the source. I now find myself greatly replenished, working every day on a new album, with a few more months of Spring left to have fun being creative and brace for the impact of Summer Festivals and adventures. There are many new things in store (new music, new collaborations, new side projects, new visual art, new ideas, new interactive art contest) not the least of which is something I have been waiting years to kickstart: The Bassnectar Art Exchange.

The Bassnectar Art Exchange (TBAE) will be like an interactive art gallery (like a mix between Tumblr & Etsy – all Bassnectar themed) where you can share what you have created, but also discover amazing new artists, and new ideas.

We want to provide a community hub for all artists who create artwork with Bassnectar themes: to showcase, to share, even to sell. Every year there are thousands of new fans, and every OG bass head is one year deeper into the ride. There is so much art being created (from painting and drawings to tattoos to flags and pins and even clothing and specialty items) and we want to encourage the creative process as much as possible!

What we do love:
We love when you make art, when you flex your imagination, when you give life to something you are inspired by, when you take an idea to a new level. And we love when you share it: when you give it to friends and loved ones, or represent loud and proud!

What we don’t like:
Selling bootleg merchandise. Bad.

Let me make the long story short by saying we encourage unlimited creativity, art, passion & inspiration in our community! And we strongly encourage you to share & give and let your art reverberate throughout the universe. But if you make art and then take the Bassnectar Logo and sell your art using the Bassnectar Logo, that’s not ok. That’s not what a true fan does, that’s not what a bass head does, and that’s not what I would do.

In high school I loved the underground music scene, and I was obsessed with so many bands. I was always drawing their logos, or remixing their cover art, and I’d even make my own shirts and patches and whatever. But it would have **NEVER** occurred to me to go mass produce Metallica shirts and try and sell them. Maybe if it was a joke or a parody, then MAYBE… but just lifting another bands logo, and selling it on merchandise is not cool. It’s not what we are about. That’s not what fans do, and that’s not what music lovers do.

So we want to make it clear that it’s absolutely not ok with anyone on this team to make/produce/sell Bassnectar merchandise or art which includes Bassnectar logos, symbols, or imagery – if you want to make art and sell it, that’s great, but leave our logo, symbols, and imagery off of it.

But we don’t just want to shut down piracy & wackness without offering a positive alternative 😄

TBAE will be kicking off this summer, and in the meantime we want to call out to artists and creators: if you have stuff you want to share with the community, hit us up via tbae@bassnectar[dot]net, and let us help you build out your own customized exhibit so it’s ready for launch! 😄

THANK YOU
-L

GREETINGS BEAUTIFUL HUMANS 😄

We are 3 days away from descending upon Birmingham in our 360 spaceship! And while we could not be more PUMPED for the 31st, we must take a moment to acknowledge the recent severe weather Birmingham has experienced and the damage that took place. There are a number of people who lost their homes + belongings due to a tornado, plus a large number of people who were put in danger from flooding due to the heavy rains & storms.

Since this city has welcomed our community with open arms, we would like to give back! That's why at this year's NYE adventure the Bass Network will be hosting a food, water, and clothing drive at the BJCC. Everything collected will be given to those in need in the city of Birmingham and surrounding areas.

Items to donate:

- Bottles of water
- Canned goods
- Socks
- Underwear (all sizes please!)
- Personal hygiene items (deodorant, soap, tooth brushes, tooth paste, etc.)

With 20,000 bass heads expected to make the journey, we are hoping to make the biggest IMPACT possible to help out! So please bring anything you can, whether it's from home, picked up upon arrival in Birmingham, or if it's money sent from afar if you will not be joining us - every little bit counts!

Thank you all in advance and we will see you super soon 😄 ARE YOU READY?!?

With #Basslights tickets gone in a flash, we are bracing ourselves for the largest NYE event in Bassnectar history: We have already sold twice as many tickets to #NYE360 as we had for Basslights, and we have expanded the room to try and fit everyone, but it's looking like our Alabama Spaceship is set to sell out as well - we have bass heads confirmed coming from all 50 states. 🚀🇺🇸 There are only so many ways to increase capacity, and we have opened up everything as of today, and the bowl is all GA - free-roaming madness.

Get tickets here: http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/20004EFD8A156730

December is set to be full blown beautiful madness - but while those plans are vibrating, I'm still setting my sights on what's up next: #Halloween Weekend in the Midwest 👻🎃

Hey, my girlfriend and I are huge fans and we know how busy you are. I will be one of the photographers backstage at the show in Denver this December. This is the last big show that my girlfriend and I will be working before we move out of the country. Is there anyway that you would be willing to take a picture with my girlfriend? It would mean the world to her. For, your music has been a huge influence on her life. If so, we will both be working with the Triad Dragons and Team EZ and we have a full access pass to go anywhere backstage. It would be an honor and a privilege. If not, we understand. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Introduction
By combining sound and force with weight, the Bassnectar experience engulfs the senses. The experience of Bassnectar is more visceral than auditory, as the music sets any stage for an adventure without rules or limitations. On Bassnectar's stage, there is no hesitation in fusing the familiar with the strange or the classic with the
cutting edge.

Bassnectar is the brainchild of Lorin Ashton, and his open-sourced musical project is as diverse as it is imaginary, as raw as it is meticulous, and as fierce as it is stunning. Spanning the spectrum of sonic style, the music draws inspiration from every genre imaginable and supplies a synthesis of intense, wobbling basslines and hypnotic soundscapes for a devout international audience that desires the beautiful and the bestial in the same breath.

In whatever medium Bassnectar works, music is the lure and social impact is the sincere intention. According to Ashton, “We are so blessed, and so deeply fortunate to be alive and awake right now…it’s a basic truth, but it’s very powerful. I think privilege confers responsibility, and Bassnectar is a reflection of that opportunity to give back; the motion of my cells bouncing back at the world.”
