More of an "Abbey" and less of a "Castle", this place was incredible. Gorgeous grounds, beautiful facilities, and some of the best food I've ever eaten in my whole life. Couldn't recommend staying here enough.

In a word, beautiful.. I only wish I had postponed my trip for another month so I could be there for the running of the salmon. The hotel has fly rods on hand for anyone interested in trying their luck. The river was crystal clear. I can only imagine how wonderful an experience it is to fish there.

Lovely large rooms along the river. More of a hunting lodge than a castle but still very lovely. The bartenders were very accommodating and made great drinks! We would definitely go back but not as part of a castle trip. There did have excellent walking trails around the grounds.

They rented us a room and we were told that there were 3 beds in the room. We got there (which, btw, the place is lovely but is in the middle of nowhere - be prepared to drive an hour to get to Galway) and the 3rd bed was a worn out box spring and old mattress they had put on the floor. I wouldn't let anyone sleep on that. I complained and they gave me another room for the night but said that I had to go back to that room for the following night. They offered to exchange beds but the situation would be the same - a mattress on the floor. When I said I was leaving and wanted a refund, they refused. I have been so very happy on my trip through Ireland until tonight. I wasn't treated well. The people are lovely, the grounds are lovely, but their policies of booking people into very expensive rooms and then giving them mattresses sitting on box springs on the floor is bad.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the castle. Superb accommodations, beautiful countryside, excellent staff, and delicious food. What more would you want / need!!

Amazing location and amazing stay. Rooms very nice with great view over the river, though a maze to try and find it.

Great Place to stay in Connemara. Rooms were very comfortable. View from the rooms were great. Landscape beautiful. Food actually were good, but a bit to expensive. For a long stay I would miss a Pup that serves smaler dishes like Sandwiches or Burgers etc.

Interview in today's Sunday Times with our head chef Ultan Cooke, a great read, where he discusses his use of local ingredients where "what grows together, goes together"
