Happy belated Halloween! Maddy and Mary Ellen celebrate the holiday by pairing two scary movies from the summer of 1982: The Thing and E.T., in that order. Now, you might be thinking, "Is E.T. scary?" Of course it is! What's more, E.T. may have destroyed The Thing's chance at success, or at least that's what John Carpenter thinks. For some reason, audiences in 1982 wanted to watch a movie about a diminutive interstellar visitor who befriends children, as opposed to an alien abomination who can mimic other life forms, but only after destroying them. It's either friendship or flamethrowers, around here! There's no in between when it comes to alien life.

Maddy and Mary Ellen try their best to give The Thing a fair shake, unlike audiences in 1982, but the movie's nihilism and hopelessness still make it a tough sell from our 2017 perspective. The worst part is MacReady's hat. The best part is MacReady's hat.

Throwback to that time Maddy and Ryan tried to cover over 30 geeky announcements on Insomniacs in the Morning!

Wonder Woman, Ghostbusters 3, Black Canary EP, X-Men: Apocalypse, and a HUGE Nintendo Direct.

They all did this while half coherent after rolling out of bed. Those were the days...

Saturday Morning Cartoon: GARGOYLES

If there is one cartoon that Maddy, Ryan and Katie all watched together, it was Gargoyles. They found it in their early teens, right before they fell in love with the X-Men, which held similar themes of not being accepted or being able to fit in with the rest of society, and having to hide in the shadows of the night.

Disney took a page out of Batman animated series book to stylistically tell a goth and grim story about Gargoyles who's clan had been destroyed. Gargoyles would "sleep" by day, retaining their stone form, and break of their stone at night. After a spell was cast on them to sleep eternally, they were moved to New York City where an evil version of Tony Stark, David Xanatos, utilized a spell to bring them back to life... And that's where their adventure begins.

This show is very close to our hearts. And we all admit that we had crushes on both Goliath and Brooklyn!

Things are getting a little wacky in THE CHAMBER.

This is the 4th week into Evidence of Evil haunt over at Crystal Bees in Southington, Connecticut. As Ryan shows in his vlog, the cast is having a little bit of fun backstage between groups. Hiding keys, pulling pranks or raging inside the show... They're having a good time.

If you are in the New England area, this is the final weekend to check Evidence of Evil THE CHAMBER at Crystal Bees -- Definitely go check it out if you have the chance. They will also be open on Halloween for a special Michael Myers event!

The Mutant Ages and Let's Watch 2 Movies crosses over in this special episode where Maddy, Ryan and Mary Ellen team up to review the 2000 X-Men film!

This film was a huge part of Ryan and Maddy's teens. They go into extreme detail about which quotes they used to send each other, and where Ryan saw the trailer for the first time, while Mary Ellen helps them understand the basic plot points they missed.

Please enjoy this fun episode!

At the beginning of September, Ryan and Katie (And Lyra) joined a small group of friends down in Niantic, Connecticut, for a vacation right on the ocean.

This was their second year in this vacation spot, so they spiced things up with daily scavenger hunts and a fire pit out on the dock, where they roasted all kinds of food. The first couple of days were rainy and cloudy, but luckily they were equipped with puzzles, games and movies.

Another vacation, another Ryan and Katie adventure!

PIRATES.

Or something like that. Throwback to when Mary Ellen and Ryan played Deadstorm Pirates (or screamed wildly at it) at Dave & Busters!

Saturday Morning Cartoon: Where's Waldo?

Back in the 80's, when the "Where's Waldo" franchise was at it's peak, an animated cartoon was based on the popular search and find books. This was one of Ryan's favorite shows as a kid.

The episodes were based off of a page from the book, to give a little backstory. Waldo's cane turned out to be a magical staff that allowed him to open portals to anywhere in time or space. One thing he didn't do a lot of was hiding, ironically. The only times he hid was during a 30 second "search and find" segment that would take place during the commercial break or end of the episode.
