Read that this was the "Wegmans" of wine stores in NYC and for those of you who know what that means, it's 100% accurate. Huge selection of any sort of wine you can imagine (I was looking for mead and they had a actually had a dozen of options to choose from). They have a large range of prices from wine that won't break the bank and wine for that super special occasion. The staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgable, very willing to offer their opinion. Also loved that the store was incredibly spacious and it looks like they do tastings there as well!

It's rare to visit a liquor or wine shop and have knowledgeable staff spaced out through the aisles to help at a moment's notice. They have a solid basic selection for each type of wine or liquor and the prices surprisingly aren't crazy. Be sure to check their weekly class schedule where you can sign up to learn about scotch, wine or more to your hearts desire.

I LOVE Astor's for so many reasons! 1.) It's huge. 2.) It's clean and well-lit. 3.) There are so many staff members around to help and they are super knowledgeable. Whether I need to know about the best beginner whiskey, the difference between rhum and rum or find a selection of cachaças, Astor's is the place. As my job involves thinking about alcohol packaging, this is a great place for inspiration and to see what all is out there.

I've shopped at a few liquor stores and this one BLOWS THEM OUT OF THE WATER! The selection, WIDE and diverse. The store is clean and neatly organized which is a nice thing for any business. Lots of room to navigate the aisles without having to accidentally elbowing someone. I was asked a few times if I needed help while I perusing the store without being invasive. The price are some of the best in that area for booze. They do have tastings frequently. *** Don't just go to tastings upon tastings and not buy a damn thing. Don't let that be you.

This is perhaps the best liquor store in Manhattan for Scotch whisky and spirits. Talk to Steve about scotch as he is very knowledgeable and friendly. great selection of independent labelings at reasonable prices. Much more approachable accessible then Park Avenue liquors.

Whith a great selection of German and Austrian wines like Grauburgunder, Blaufränkisch or Grüner Veltliner, Astor Wines & Spirits has made it to become one of my favorite wine stores in downtown Manhattan. Free delivery to many NYC neighborhoods also makes it easy to shop when you're on your bike.
