Asha Silicon Valley is organizing for the eighth consecutive year, a Spring Run/Walk & Carnival. This year, we are organizing our Spring Run at the beautiful Hellyer County Park. We have two categories of Run/Walk - 5k and the 10k. There will be games, face painting, food stall, fun and frolic. So please get your family and your supporters along. They can cheer you while you run and also have fun at the carnival.
Registrations for the 2014 Marathon Training Program will be available on the race day. All proceeds from the Spring Run/Walk (except for donations made to Asha for Education) will be used towards administrative expenses of Asha Silicon Valley.
Please join us with your family and friends.

Asha for Education's Work An hour (WAh 2013) is now live!

12 Projects, 3969 children, $145338 target!

Each year, people from around the world come together to help educate underprivileged children in India. Work An Hour, or WAH, is a summer-long, global, online fundraising campaign based on a simple concept - that every drop matters in furthering the future of children. So we ask that you symbolically donate an hour or more of your salary towards the cause of children's education.

Note from TASV Bike Co-Coord 2012 AFTER the final ride and lunch at HSB: Nov 11 2012

I was woken up from my sleep by a loud uproar! When I woke up, it sounded like some kind of rally was going on. And all I could hear was -- "We need a home, we need a home!"

As I stepped out to my living room, what I saw was even more stunning! There was this huge group of bikers, I repeat, bicyclists - man, what an amazing sight it was, although it was terrifying to see what I saw in the middle of the night.

It was like there is a tablet of Ahkmenrah somewhere hidden in the house. All the trophies had come to life and were creating such a ruckus that left me wide awake through the night!

There wasn't a corner in the house that was not in
this highly energetic group of bikers' sight.
They went exploring every nook and cranny
and they were at it all night!
Some were slow, some were fast
but all of them stuck to their task.
Although it was fun seeing their journey,
I would like my sleep back.
else who knows how many stories I might have to hack!

P.S.: Spare the folks who have already collected the trophies these stories by collecting your trophies soon.
P.P.S.: Thank goodness the jerseys don't come to life and suffocate me while I am asleep!

Today is UNESCO's International Literacy day - highlighting the issues related to the illiteracy in this world. There are an estimated 100+ million kids just in India below the age of 15 who are not in school. We at Asha for Education understand that education is a prerequisite for socio-economic development and are doing our little part in addressing the illiteracy in India. We supported the education of 50,000+ kids last year.

Are you doing your part? You can, during our Work an Hour campaign. On an average, all it takes is one of your salary as a donation to keep a child in school. Please visit to find out more about this years work an hour canpaign and to make your contribution.

Work-An-Hour is Asha for Education's annual online fundraiser that highlights the issue of illiteracy in India to donors worldwide. WAH symbolically requests you to donate an hour of your salary towards education of underprivileged children in India. That's all it takes to bring about the much needed socio-economic change in India.

A team of dedicated volunteers verify projects in WAH to ensure that their sites have been visited regularly by one of our volunteers, & records have been maintained, so that 'you' as a donor can be assured that your money will be put to right use. When you make a donation, you can decide the project(s) where you would like us to channel your funds.
