I am so happy that more OEMS are embracing the Android One platform. Now more people can afford great hardware with great software and timely updates.

- Not really sure i understand the point of this A1 release if true. What have Nokia got to gain, their phones already receive timely updates & the software is already pretty much stock so whats the point?4w
- i don't think that all of their phones are receiving the same updates. Also i think it's cost effective. They don't have to maintain a midranger. Google will.4w
- Goog point, I had assumed that all the Nokia phones were getting the same love that the 8 is. However Nokia will still have to do some maintenance updates for the phone as Google cant, e.g. camera software same as Xiaomi with the Mi A1. Also I'd be very surprised if this was an A1 release only so Nokia would be maintaining it anyway. I guess if it sells them more phones or gets them into Project Fi it makes some sense.4w
- Nokia will still be in charge of updates, not Google. The main difference will be that Android Once devices have to abide by Google's rules, which includes guaranteed updated for two years. I suspect this is what Nokia want to get across here - that they are officially signed up for timely updates.4w
