When speaking to small business about getting online, one question I almost undoubtedly get each time is "how much does it cost?". This article on Entrepreneur goes over the different components of a website and the price range for different options. Would love to hear any questions you as small business owners have on building a site.
If you're looking to set up a new home on the internet, should you do it yourself or hire additional help?

Connie, thanks for your thoughtful question. You're absolutely right, small business owners do struggle with the design front. I think for each case, one has to evaluate what's a priority at the moment based on what stage the business is in, and the monetary resources available.

An established business, for example, should at a minimum consider investing in a website logo for branding purposes. At this stage, you want to communicate brand cohesiveness and start creating a look/feel associated with your business. This doesn't mean you have to break the bank and go fully custom in all areas of your site, but a logo is great start to adding a unique touch to your online presence.

What's the return? Visitors perceive your business as more professional and have a higher sense of trust. A logo can also be used in multiple marketing materials (website, business card, social media profiles). It'll add value to your business as a whole.
