A new milestone! Starting in January, Medicare will provide coverage for care and support services for those living with Alzheimer's. This is the first time people living with Alzheimer's will have access to care planning with a medical professional. Thank you to our advocates whose voices continue to make an impact! bit.ly/2eiUnIj

"I saw the bravest man in the world playing the hardest role of his life." Susan Schneider Williams, Robin Williams' widow, pens poignant editorial on her late husband's battle with Lewy body dementia. wapo.st/2dhSnWx
Robin Williams's widow penned a long essay describing her husband's long and often confusing struggle with a little-known brain disease.

Because my 65 year old brilliant and humble husband is now in late-moderate and somewhat severe stages of Alzheimer's disease my heart, as a huge fan of Robin Williams, goes out to his wife in a very poignant way. When I think of other people who knew him personally and cared deeply for him too I wonder about their experiences with him as he changed, their abilities and choices about whether or how to stay connected to him and his wife, to 'be there' for them, to help out when possible and show love.

"Participating in the trial is my opportunity to help eradicate this horrible disease for my children and possibly the world." Individuals with a family history of Alzheimer's may help unlock clues to the disease. Learn how you can help advance Alzheimer's and dementia research at alz.org/TrialMatch.
Researchers are hoping to learn what causes Alzheimer’s and what treatments might be effective by studying people whose families have a history of the disease.

Happy Halloween to all the ghosts, ghouls and goblins fighting to end Alzheimer's! Fun fact: Seth Rogen changed his costume eight times during Hilarity for Charity Halloween, which raised more than $1.7 million for the Alzheimer's Association. Comment with your favorite costume number!

Last week Sigma Kappa presented us with a $1 million check for the Alzheimer's Association Women's Initiative at their national conference in Chicago - a goal they reached three years early. To celebrate, sisters from all over the country stood proud in purple while forming a human Alzheimer's Association logo. We are so grateful for Sigma Kappa's commitment to the fight against Alzheimer's disease! #ENDALZ #SKBeBold #SKSharedHearts

Debra: We are, I am now convinced... a huge network of kinfolk. Equal opportunity, too. My neighbor, a dear Hispanic gal and widow is now looking after her elder-beloved who, in addition to ongoing Alz dementia, has just lost 90% of her vision from a related stroke. Another colleague is from India, and they are home caring their dad. Though our cultures and ethnicities may be varied, our love for our family member is universal, and across the board we face each challenge, in our faith. Also, I hope making time for a bit of laughter. All, stay strong.
