With a career spanning forty years, award-winning soul, blues and R&B vocalist/harmonicist/songwriter Curtis Salgado is a one-of-a-kind talent whose music is as compelling as his story. Living Blues says, "Salgado navigates dynamic soul, swaying balladry, and funky grooves with equal confidence. He is a formidable performer."

He’s returning to Seattle for two nights at The Triple Door on September 2nd and 3rd in support of his release, The Beautiful Lowdown, where he effortlessly blends classic soul sounds and funk grooves with up-to-the-minute lyrics. And that is the undisputed, beautiful, lowdown truth.

Moreland & Arbuckle’s Promised Land Or Bust receives a 4-star review in MOJO (September 2016 issue). “For two guys, a drummer and some guests they hit extraordinary noise-levels; the unwary listener reels back as if struck in the face by a Marshall amp. Exhilarating.”

JJ Grey & Mofro’s “The Sun Is Shining Down” was used by San Antonio, TX’s Channel 4 as the musical theme for a tribute to the retiring San Antonio Spur basketball great Tim Duncan. A touching song to commemorate an amazing career. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YD7QzVbWzZs

“The Sun Is Shining Down” appears on JJ Grey & Mofro’s 2007 Alligator Records release, Country Ghetto, as well as on their 2014 concert CD/DVD "Brighter Days"

Today we are remembering our dear friend Koko Taylor, The Queen of the Blues, who passed away on this date in 2009. She blessed us with 35 years as a member of the Alligator family, with nine timeless albums and thousands of charismatic live performances. She used to say, “If I’ve made someone’s day a little better and made them forget their troubles, I’ve done my job.” Thanks, Koko.

He's touring in support of his tenth album The Beautiful Lowdown where for the first time in his career of forty years, he wrote or co-wrote virtually the entire album himself. Blues Revue, describing Salgado’s performance style, declares, “He starts at excellent before segueing into goose bumps, ecstasy, and finally nirvana.”

Chicago has become world famous as the home of tough, hard-edged electric blues. From when Muddy Waters first electrified the Delta Blues sound in the late 1940s right up to today, the Windy City has nurtured one of the most competitive blues scenes anywhere. Moreland & Arbuckle’s Promised Land Or Bust is as deep as Delta blues and heavy as thundering rock, as the band continues to wring hard-hitting, modern roots music from traditional forms. Their Alligator Records debut has received critical acclaim from a plethora of publications, music reviewers and fans alike. We previously released videos for two songs from the album – “Mean And Evil” and “When The Lights Are Burning Low.” Now we present the video for the lead track “Take Me With You (When You Go),” which is their ode to going on a journey…physical, spiritual, or otherwise. Check out the visually stunning video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPljWN43efM.
