it's a path taken w/ fervor & belief honed thru their teacher's drumbeat of a holy call & cause.
those that go - to say they are motivated by oil & gas...
most ridiculous comment
(& glaring shortsighted comprehension seen in awhile)
maybe the seated govts want mineral stores but the fighters want ...
only the foot soldiers can answer that.
each with his own dream or "goal"
there's an expression heard in some Veterans groups & it has rung true to the beginning of combat / aggression.
(some would say it applies even in a "good" war)
it goes like this:
IT's NOT FOR US TO REASON WHY. *IT's JUST FOR US TO DO... and DIE."

could it be
they go to die for this cause, to be a Martyr.
to please Allah.
to show their "faith"
????

Long tolerated in Thailand, Chinese dissidents say Beijing now wants them back. Hear their stories on @AJ101East http://aje.io/k9bh
Thailand has long been a sanctuary for Chinese dissidents, but it no longer offers safety for those seeking refuge.

Sadly, War is Hell & there has been, will be, many hundreds of thousands more that will become "Collateral Damage" as long as armies, navies, air forces & govts decided that a bullet, bomb or missile is their answer to lack of cohesive international understanding & protection.
i'm from the Cold War generation. Vietnam was in FULL CONFLAGRATION when i was in Grade School thru my entire High School life. It ended just before i became "of age" to be sent...
Cambodia, Balkans, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Laos, East Timor, Sri Lanka, Rwanda, Rep of Congo, Kashmir ...
need i add more?
the Soviets lost 20million people in WWII.
were they all combatants?
of course not.
people can now see these atrocities first hand w/ the 'net.
doesn't make it new
doesn't make it more (or less) painful & disturbing.
you help. you hope it worked for the best, for the patient - but to get attached to that patient is an error on the part of the careworker.
when trauma happens to a kid you hope their psyche copes.
blocking it out is a natural process that allows them to live "NORMAL" lives.
the adult must accept that as part of the healing process.

There, truly, can be no other way.
except ... end war.
