Mike Ford signed up for photography tuition in March 2014 after meeting me the Photography Show at the NEC.  Mike is based in Yorkshire so naturally attending classroom based evening classes was not viable.

Chris Shaw first signed up photography tuition with me in Oct 2013, initially he joined the on-line mentoring programme and after some initial attempts at assignments that proved challenging to him he soon started to show a flare for image making.   Chris continued with mentoring for a year and then went onto have some 1-2-1 private tuition, attend a workshop and the Adobe Lightroom Course.  By the end of 2014 he was exhibiting and s...

About The Artist Jacki grew up in Tunbridge Wells in Kent before moving to London to train as an Intensive Care Nurse. She has always enjoyed drawing and painting, but after achieving her Art ‘A’ level, a busy life, initially work and then raising four children, took over and the hobby had to be put to one side. Three years ago, a friend asked Jacki to accompany her to a short photographic course in Solihull and she realised that photogr...

Adobe Lightroom 6 - What's New It's been just over a month since Adobe released the new version of Lightroom (Photo editing software).  The upgrade from version 5 to 6 (aka Lightroom CC) has had some great new features added and changes made to the engine room that powers it. I have been testing the new Lightroom since its release at the end of April and have been asked on numerous occasions if it is worth upgrading to or purchasi...

Story
Introduction

Alan Ranger is a passionate photographer who found that through a collection of tubes and boxes with the word Sony stamped on them he could express his creative vision by pointing them at objects, people, scapes and just about anything that showed the beauty of light and shade.

His work is varied but shows a unique style that he has developed through persistence and an inbuilt perfectionist approach to not only capturing something magical but being able to develop that further in the digital dark room.

With a dedication and never ending enthusiam to photography Alan has achieved the Royal Photographic Society Licentiateship Distinction (LRPS) and is working towards his Associate Distinction in 2010.  Alan runs a number of groups on Flickr where he mentors amateur photographers and collaborates with others on techniques, ideas and creating art.

With experience covering a full range of photography genres Alan has the creative vision, technical talent and passion needed to create powerful images and give instructional tuition.  Although based in Coventry, Warwickshire, UK, Alan regularly travels to pursue his love of landscapes, he is able to provide on location photography tuition as well as home based portrait shoots or post processing lessons.

Alan originally directed his creativity through poetry and his love of music of all genres.  These days this vision and emotion is clear to see in his images that are often inspired by his love of certain artists but also his ability to see beyond the normal view and express the poetry of light and shadow through striking images.  With his infectious enthusiasm for photography, Alan has the patience and natural ability to inspire and help others develop and express their artistry. Guiding complete beginners to people who have photographed for years but need that extra motivation to reach the next level Alan is always willing to go out of his way to help someone in photography who has that passion.
