Everyone at Age UK would like to wish her Majesty Queen Elizabeth a very happy 90th birthday and introduce you to our very own Queen Bee, 93-year-old fundraiser Jean!

Jean has raised over £100,000 for Age UK over the years dressed in her infamous bee costume. Jean got involved with a knitting class at her local Age UK after the death of her husband and started shaking her collection tin 3 years later making it 17 years of fundraising so far.

'Even if I'm not feeling too good, I never let the public see that,' she admits, showing a truly determined streak.

And she puts her success down to 2 things: 'One is smile and be happy, and if they've got any little children, praise them up.' A simple, yet winning formula.
