A final reminder - The current round of public input on the national policy agenda draft closes Friday, February 27, 2015. Please send your comments, questions and recommendations now to the project team at oitp[at]alawash[dot]org.
Among the hundreds of powerful connections and conversations that took place at the 2015 American Library Association (ALA) Midwinter Meeting, librarians of all backgrounds began commenting on a draft national policy agenda for libraries. They asked how libraries can secure additional funding at a time of government budget cuts. Several noted and appreciated the inclusion of federal libraries, and most people specifically welcomed the premise of ...

 Health insurance isn't going to be affordable for everyone until we get a Canadian style single payer plan. That's just the reality of the situation. This plan is providing relief for the overwhelming majority of Americans who are affected by it (15% of the total population). That's just the reality we live in. If your friend wants to help solve the problem, he should get involved in fixing the systemic issues in our government;

Likes punk rock. Hates punk rockers.

Voracious reader, but I hate the classics. Dickens and Dostoevsky and Camus bore me to sleep. Give me a good history book or the biography of some old iconoclast. Or a science fiction novel.

Secular Humanist. Does anyone even call themselves that anymore?

Believes everyone is, at heart, an anarchist, but laughs at those who propose anarchy as more than a temporary solution.

Obsessed with running. And beer.

Animal lover (especially dogs).

I always consider going here to be a real treat and am especially excited about having a change of work schedule, because with Sundays off, I can finally try their pozole. If you think a vegetarian menu would be severely limited, this restaurant needs to be your first stop. I've made it a point to try something different every time I come here (with the exception of the Tamale Oaxacaena, which is a MUST) and every time, I'm astounded by how good my order is. Far and away one of my favorite restaurants in the city and it's all because of the food.

Was surprised to first find this place in my neighborhood. Very glad it's there. Lots of delicious food specials and combinations and you always get a generous portion of everything which, for the price, makes it my favorite place in Norridge/Harwood Heights. Also - probably the best falafel recipe of anywhere I've tried in the Chicago metro area. Perfect mix of savory, crunchy and fluffy on the inside and you can tell they know this because you'll get a piece handed to you when you wander in. Best of all, they are really nice! I've always been treated like a valued customer and the people there are eager to be my food tour guides, when there's something I haven't tried yet. I haven't even mentioned the bakery... well done!

Big fan of the beers, and the Thai pizza is remarkable (but no sriracha? are you kidding?). I kinda wish they weren't so uptight about serving the pickled watermelon. Let me get a bowl of that to go! Came with the wings which.. .not my thing. But the real reason for going here is the beer and I don't know if there's a better mix of top tier beers anywhere on Earth than the seasonal selection of 3 Floyds. I couldn't not drink the Zombie Dust like it was my last ever and the selection of both beer and food on the menu certainly guarantees many returns.

HELL YEAH, IT'S MY NEW FAVORITE PLACE FOR LUNCH!!! Seriously, it's REALLY good. The menu's not deep, but what they do, they do well. They'll be getting lots of my lunch money and won't need to bully me for it, so yeah.

Was very happy to find this place when I took a trip to Port Huron. Their in-house selection of brews was well informed and pitch perfect on the taste buds. I hope next time I find myself in these parts, to put a visit here at the top of my list.

How is it that my all my favorite beers are coming from the same brewery? Gatecrasher and Smittytown are two of the most astounding things to come from a can in my entire beer drinking life. As soon as they can that Black IPA they do (yes I know, a contradiction in terms), I may have to retire from public life. In the meantime, hitting this place for drinks gives me a crack at some darn good beers. This place totally redeems Evanston for years of that silly temperance movement. The location is not my favorite though - very hard to give people directions to it.

It's all about the paneer & fig sandwich. I'm also really big on the Asian slaw that comes with the sammies. Though they could make those tacos I keep hearing about a permanent installation. Nothing else like it in Evanston - definitely my new favorite lunchtime grub spot. Happy to recommend this place.
