Speakers: Youth Group members, Graduated Sponsored Children, AAB Youth Team

Young people from ActionAid Bangladesh’s various citizen’s groups (Youth Group, Graduated Sponsored Children’s Group, Reflection-Action Group) will share their experience on how they have been involved in programme implementation in their respective localities. With help from the recently developed Youth Programming Toolkit, our volunteers and young programme participants are now better equipped to engage with stakeholders and duty bearers to advocate for their rights. Keeping that in mind, the focus of this particular discussion will be on three main areas:
• Sensitizing and engaging young people in LRP’s programmatic/campaign activities
• Supporting Graduated Sponsored Children to lead initiatives related to child marriage, education, and safe drinking water
• Sustaining engagement and empowerment of young people through knowledge sharing and capacity building initiatives

Six months ago we shared the story of Nazma, who was pregnant when #RanaPlaza collapsed with her inside.

We're so happy to be able to report that little Junayed has been born now, though without his father.

Monday April 7th marks the 20th anniversary of the #Rwanda genocide, when up to a million people were killed over 100 days - approximately 20 per cent of the Rwandan population.

The #genocide tore apart families, as Elizabeth Nyirafaranga recalls:

“We thought our children would be safe at our own families’ home. But it was my cousin who alerted the others and told them were we were hiding with the small children. When they came we did not have any cows to give them. They raped us instead.”

This film is a powerful testimony to the genocide and how Rwandan women have since rebuilt their future.
