Today marks the one year anniversary of the first devastating‪#‎NepalEarthquake‬. To date, we've helped some 178,000 Nepalese people cope with the disaster and get back on their feet -- with clean water, cooking kits and food, shelter kits, and cash-for-work initiatives. Learn more about our work in Nepal, the successes to date, and the challenges that still remain: http://bit.ly/1TsSR6l ‪#‎Nepal12MonthsOn‬
On Saturday 25 April 2015, a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, killing nearly 9000 people and and destroying homes, leaving 188900 people displaced. One year on, families continue to rebuild their lives. But recovery is a challenging, step-by-step process.

This was the scene after the earthquake in ‪#‎Nepal‬ nearly a year ago. And now, the reality is similar after the ‪#‎EcuadorEarthquake‬ . Action Against Hunger USA is active in both countries, responding to emergency and helping as these resilient nations rebuild.

At Action Against Hunger, we love bringing our wonderful partners to the field to show our programs in action. Our team in Sierra Leone recently hosted Peter Morrison from the ELMA PhilanthropiesServices representing The ELMA Relief Foundation which is generously co-funding a nutrition intervention in the Moyamba District with the German International Development Cooperation (GIZ).

Meet Marie, or as she's known in her Freetown, Sierra Leone community, "Mama Marie." Here she is with the adorable four-year-old Lizzy, a little girl she has taken in and for whom she is providing wonderful care. Marie is a 76-year-old mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who has become the mom her whole community needs -- taking in five orphaned and abandoned children. We're delighted to kick off our May series,‪#‎HealthyMomsHealthyKids‬, with Mama Marie's story. As Mother's Day approaches, we can't think of a more amazing mom to celebrate and salute! A baby finds a moment of rest amidst the chaotic aftermath of the‪#‎EcuadorEarthquake‬. Women and their children urgently need safe spaces where they can enjoy some privacy and peace. We're hard at work, planning to assemble "baby tents" where moms and their little ones can eat, rest, and receive psychosocial support to cope with the impact of the disaster.

At the Azraq Camp for Syrian ‪#‎refugees‬ in Jordan, we use skilled storytellers to teach important lessons -- especially to children. The performer pictured here is teaching kids key practices related to water and hygiene -- practices that are imperative due to the high stress upon Jordan's water infrastructure. © Florian Seriex / Jordan – 2016
