"My trip here was great!  Go to Uganda, it is an amazing place", Pack snacks and other none perishable food like canned chicken/tuna, mac and cheese, oatmeal and mayonnaise. My favorite student fell asleep on my lap at school one day.

Volunteer Name: Alex L. Koplin Project Location: Belize
June 06 - June 14, 2014 Volunteered At: Orphanage

This trip really helped me. It refueled my batteries and gave me a new perspective about life.
I realize this is corny and a little trite, but it did help me. Being with my daughter who is 18, and watching her and having a close person to talk to was great. Seeing how others with very little are so grateful each day for what they have is a great lesson and reminder of what we have here. The kids at the orphanage were all welcoming and well behaved. It was great interacting with them.
They were positive around us and some let us get closer and develop some positive relationships.

Volunteer in Chile La Serena - Teaching Program - Kimberlee Turner, Jeorge Cymon, Tony Liu, Erik Schoning

Kimberlee: I have had experience tutoring non-native speakers and enjoy working with students of all ages. While I realize that I am myself benefitting and learning from the experience, I strive to benefit others as well.
Jeorge: I am considering the teaching program in La Serena because I have a plethora of experience as a language and writing tutor and believe I can contribute and gain many things.

Volunteer: Dorothy Liu-Barbaro - Cusco, Peru / Dates: May 5 - May 30, 2014 Volunteered: Centro de Salud/Medical volunteer

"Volunteering with A Broader View in Cusco was a wonderful experience, as a doctor. I learned a lot about the Peruvian healthcare system and appreciated positive and negative aspects of it. I enjoyed working at both a private hospital and the public clinic and learned how healthcare resources are allocated in a system very different from ours in the USA. I learned how important the family system is here in Peru and was pleased to see how patients often had multiple family members stay with them during their hospital stay. These family members were instrumental in purchasing medications and seeing to their families needs".

Volunteer Name:  Leona Leung - Kathmandu, Nepal, 6/2/14-6/16/14
Pre-medical/ Community Hospital
"During my trip to Nepal, I was extremely hesitant at first because I am going into a foreign country on my own.  A Broader View made me feel extremely safe and prepared me to go into this amazing journey I was about to experience. The hospital staff I was able to work with taught me so many things, and I observed more than I expected too. I definitely had an unforgettable learning experience at the hospital. The free time to sight see Nepal was a definite plus, because this country is so beautiful, and the people there made it more welcoming. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience in the pre-med/pre-nursing program in Nepal".

Volunteer Name: Ethan Kandeeban April 27 - May 25, 2014 Volta Region, Ghana Pre-medical/health Ghana
Traveling to Ghana and working with locals on various healthcare initiatives was one of the greatest experience of my life. I went to Ghana expecting to teach about basic healthcare regimes and came back to Canada with a wealth of knowledge I had no idea I would receive.  An experience like this changes the soul and the core of who you, it even reduces me to tears thinking about it all. I would recommend this to anyone who has a love for healthcare, travel, people and especially those who want to figure out if healthcare is what they want to do with their lives. There is a reason they call Ghana the “Gateway of Africa” and from experience, I can promise this to be true. It is hard to believe, but there wasn’t a single time I was afraid in Ghana. The people there were unbelievably friendly, the traditions and culture was absolutely fascinating and it is a country that is easy to navigate and have as your own as you travel and make footprints in the world.
