AAF has upgraded the VariCel® XL HT compact filter. This filter is designed to improve air quality in hot air systems such as paint drying lines. With the upgraded design, the VariCel XL HT can provide up to 40% savings on energy costs compared to traditional designs. The VariCel XL HT can be applied at high continuous operating temperatures up until 385C. The new DriPak® NX pocket filter from AAF: best energy efficiency, highest ease of maintenance

Emmen, 12 January 2015. DriPak® NX represents the latest development in pocket filter design, combining a new injection moulded polyurethane header with highly efficient synthetic media. Designed and engineered by AAF, the DriPak NX offers lowest pressure drop and best energy efficiency. The injection moulded polyurethane header guarantees high rigidness and low weight, by which handling and maintenance become much easier. The DriPak NX is fully incinerable for minimized environmental impact.

Designed and engineered by AAF, the DriPak NX offers lowest pressure drop and best energy efficiency. The injection moulded polyurethane header guarantees high rigidness and low weight, by which handling and maintenance become much easier. The DriPak NX is fully incinerable for minimized environmental impact.

New injection moulded polyurethane header

The new DriPak NX pocket filter features a unique injection moulded polyurethane (PU) header. The PU header is designed by AAF and optimized for use in combination with the pockets from stable, highly efficient synthetic media. The result is a lightweight and sturdy filter construction, enabling an easy and safe installation. Sharp edges and burrs, such as found with conventional metal headers, are absent as the PU header’s corners and sides are nicely rounded. The risk of injuries to the service crew is therewith minimized.

Instability issues, which can be experienced with plastic headers and can make maintenance more difficult and time consuming, are eliminated because of the PU header’s high rigidity. A simple and correct installation into the filter frame is facilitated without damaging the air filter. Additionally, the low weight gives easier transportation on site, especially when working on different height levels or handling multiple products at once.

The PU header is designed with rounded aerodynamic inlets, by which air distribution is optimized and pressure drop is reduced. Because the individual pockets are clearly separated from each other, and form a gastight seal with the PU header, bypass of contaminated air is prevented and overall filtration performance is enhanced for better indoor air quality.

Best energy efficiency

The combination of the PU header with tapered pockets from highly efficient synthetic media results in an extremely low initial pressure drop of just 65 Pa for filter class F7 and 120 Pa for filter class F9. The DriPak NX is the most energy efficient pocket filter currently available on the market, awarded an A rating based on the 2015 Eurovent Energy Efficiency Classification. The performance of DriPak NX is fully compliant with the EN779:2012 standard and is certified by Eurovent.

With the PU header the air filter is also fully incinerable, whereas its optimized dust holding capacity gives a long service life. Together this makes the DriPak NX a very environmental-friendly filter option, perfectly fitting in today’s increasing focus on energy efficient buildings and the ecological footprint of products.

Fully new automated production process

For the manufacture of the new DriPak NX pocket filter with PU header, AAF has inaugurated a fully new automated production line at its main European facility based in Emmen, the Netherlands. The complete filter assembly process, from media stitching to PU moulding, as well as testing is done in the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certified Dutch facility.

AAF’s DriPak NX with PU header is available as from today in Europe’s most commonly used filter dimensions and will replace its plastic header equivalents. More filter dimensions will be gradually implemented. The local AAF affiliate offices can be contacted for the latest status on availability of header options.
