See more awesome shots now at: http://www.ablogtowatch.com/girard-perregaux-competizione-stradale-chronograph-watch-review/

"There is something uniquely special about a nicely executed, simple chronograph. At a time, when everything has to be explained, scrutinized and analyzed, every once in a while, it just feels sweet to be able to lean back and enjoy the perks of a job done well. Once you cut the whole '70s vintage-inspired' malarkey, that is what you end up having with the Girard-Perregaux Competizione Stradale Chronograph watch. Let us now explain..."

+Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Chronograph Skeleton Watch Hands-On - by +Ariel Adams

More awesome shots up now at: http://www.ablogtowatch.com/maurice-lacroix-masterpiece-chronograph-skeleton-watch/

"Even at prices around $8,000, the Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Chronograph Skeleton watch is a decent value if you are in the market for a skeletonized chronograph. Skeletonization is popular in mechanical watches these days for good reason. In an age of smartwatches and quartz watches, of course, being able to visually appreciate the mechanics of a traditionally non-electronic watch is appealing. Not just to the wearer themselves..."

This Unwanted +ROLEX Milgauss 6541 Now An Iconic Timepiece Collectors Drool Over - by Paul Altieri

See more of this special Rolex Milgauss once owned by famed +NASCAR legend Richard Petty now at: http://www.ablogtowatch.com/rolex-milgauss-6541-honeycomb-dial-iconic-timepiece-watch-collectors/

"Many vintage Rolexes that are considered extremely rare and valuable today were initially quite unpopular when they were first released. One particular Rolex Milgauss was so unwanted by its owner, that it was actually returned to the store from which it was purchased; today, that watch is worth a quarter of a million dollars..."

Watch shopping? See our +eBay Buying Guides to get started on the right track. Here is one for those keeping an eye out for a +ROLEX  Explorer. Great alternative to the Submariners out there.

Head to: http://www.ebay.com/gds/Guide-To-Buying-A-Rolex-Explorer-Watch-/10000000211736016/g.html

"So you’ve decided that you want to purchase a Rolex Explorer. Perhaps you’ve come to this conclusion because you have reached a point where you know you want a Rolex but don’t want the 'typical' models that many end up choosing from. This is an excellent choice for those seeking a Rolex outside of the Datejust and Submariner realms..."

I enjoyed the article and used to look at Rolex when they had Tritium dials, which is a radioactive isotope of Hydrogen, with a half-life of about 1000 years if I remember correctly. It emits Alpha particles, which cause the luminescence when these hit the paint they're surrounded by and emit light. You don't charge them up like Superluminova, or Rolex's version of this: Chromalight. Alpha particles are the least penetrating, but do the most damage if you ingest a source, as they are the most ionising, damaging cells. I would like the modern 2016 Rolex Explorer, as on their website currently in their Baselworld 2016 Watches section, as it has the Arabic 936 again luminescent with Chromalight, and wider, presumably similar hands to the 'Maxi' Rolex GMT II watches. I'm at an age where I need reading glasses and find most Rolex dials don't stand out. I like the dial and hands of the modern Explorer II, particularly the black dialled version, as I presume it's hour markers are made out of 18 carat gold, whereas the white dialled version, although a much clearer dial aren't. It looks like a black non-metallic material. I also have worried that the latest version of the 936 Arabic-numeralled 2016 Explorer would just be current 2010 model stock with new dials and hands added.

+HUBLOT Classic Fusion Chronograph +Chelsea Football Club Watch - by +Kenny Yeo

A Chelsea-inspired Hublot? Absolutely. More at: http://www.ablogtowatch.com/hublot-classic-fusion-chronograph-chelsea-fc-watch/

"In 2010, Hublot pulled off one hugely impressive marketing coup when the small but charismatic watch brand somehow managed to fight off larger companies to become the official timekeeper of the South Africa 2010 Fifa World Cup. The World Cup, which takes place every four years, is consistently watched by over a billion people around the world. And thanks to the prominent display of Hublot branding at every match, those who did not know anything about the Swiss watch maker soon did. Football has since become an important marketing device for Hublot..."

Polar M600 +Android Wear Smartwatch - by +Patrick Kansa

See more of this Android-powered piece up now at: http://www.ablogtowatch.com/polar-m600-android-wear-smartwatch/

"Functionality between smart watches and fitness trackers increasingly overlaps these days. If you have a watch with the various sensors to pick up your step counts and Bluetooth to send the data to a phone, it is not that far of a leap to blow things out to a full smart watch suite. With the advent of the Android Wear ecosystem, that has definitely become a lot easier to accomplish. The latest entry for that would be the just-announced Polar M600. I'm definitely not in the camp of everyday (or even casual) smart watch users..."

+zenithwatches Heritage Pilot Ton-Up Watch Hands-On - +Ariel Adams

Lots of great shots of this Zenith live now at: http://www.ablogtowatch.com/zenith-heritage-pilot-cafe-racer-spirit-watch/

"In theme, the new Zenith Pilot Type 20 watch for 2016 isn't truly a pilot watch at all (though it does still say "Pilot" on the dial), but it is now intended to celebrate the cafe racer biker community, also known as Ton-up boys. Thus, we have gone from hipster aviators to hipster motorcycle owners. To be honest, the cafe racer connection is the least interesting part of this watch for me, which instead should be celebrated as a fashionable high-end watch from Zenith..."

Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 5496P-015 Platinum Watch Hands-On - by +Kenny Yeo

Tons of awesome shots of this platinum-Patek up now at: http://www.ablogtowatch.com/patek-philippe-perpetual-calendar-5496p-015-platinum-watch/

"The perpetual calendar is one of the most rare and desirable complications to have in a watch, and few can claim mastery over this complication as Patek Philippe can. After all, Patek Philippe did introduce the world’s first perpetual calendar wristwatch way back in 1925. And if that weren’t enough, they even invented the annual calendar just 20 years ago - but we digress..."

+HUBLOT  Classic Fusion Power Reserve Titanium Watch Review - by +Bilal Khan

See more of this thin, in-house Hublot now at: http://www.ablogtowatch.com/hublot-classic-fusion-power-reserve-titanium-watch-review/

"With the Hublot Classic Fusion Power Reserve Titanium watch, Hublot has created a thin, lightweight watch with the edge of its siblings and a new in-house manual-wind movement that lets you put the watch away to find it still running a week and a day later. It’s sleek and thin, but this Classic Fusion maintains that aggressive Hublot look. I've written about the Classic Fusion line in our 'Cost of Entry' series before..."
