#ZogEnergy #ISO27001

Zog Energy, the independent energy provider, announced that it has attained the ISO/IEC 27001 security certification. This certification is a robust international test of a company's physical and information security. In an increasingly hostile environment for customer information, Zog Energy has undergone this process to ensure that it is ready to face the challenges ahead and continue to provide its customers with clear, customer-friendly access to the company alongside secure procedures to keep their data safe.

“I am delighted to have attained this information security certification,” said Tony Chester, Director of Zog Energy. “It demonstrates our commitment to Information Security and our Privacy Policy,” he continued. “It gives us and our customers confidence that we have strong measures in place to protect their privacy. The company should feel rightly proud that its procedures for protecting information have been tested rigorously and proven to operate to the very highest international standards, giving peace of mind to its customers and staff alike. ISO 27001 certification is a very challenging task.”

With the imminent rollout of smart meters, it is vital that energy companies rise to the challenge the new technology poses to information security. Complacency is not an option in our increasingly connected world. Having demonstrated that Zog Energy has the necessary controls in place ahead of smart meter rollout, they are in a commanding position to take the energy business into the future.

At Zog our customers are our top priority and our aim is to give them the cheapest energy prices we can. Therefore, on behalf of our customers we have been working hard with Santander for you to receive cashback on your direct debit payments. If you pay you direct debit from your Santander 123 account you will now be eligible to receive cash back on your payments (payed by Santander). New and existing customers will benefit from these payments from now on.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Accurate energy bills are an important factor for managing the household finances, especially in these difficult times. Without regular meter readings all energy companies can do is to estimate usage. If more has been used, more than estimated, then this can be a surprise for the customer. Meter reading is one of the most important parts of energy supply. Readings must be reliable and accurate so your bills can be too.

As part of the change of supplier process you will be asked to provide a meter reading close to your switching date. This reading will be used by your old supplier for your final bill and by Zog for your account opening reading. If a reading is not provided the central gas systems will estimate a reading on your behalf, this could be different from your actual reading. This is not necessarily a problem as this will be corrected by providing an actual meter reading to bring you usage back in line. If you would like us to agree a replacement opening read with your old supplier please feel free to contact us and will we contact you old supplier on your behalf.

At Zog we recommend that a reading is entered on the last day of each month. This will then be used on your statement which allows us to make sure your balance is as accurate as possible on your next statement.

One last point, don’t get confused between meters, we know it’s easy to do. Make sure you enter your electricity and gas reading in the correct boxes and with the correct suppliers.

To reflect falling wholesale energy prices, we have cut the cost of our Mercury 12 & 24 tariffs by up to 11% (discount varies by region)

Going with separate suppliers for electricity and gas will generally save you money. Why is this not shown on the comparison sites?

The financial website of the year This is MONEY recently conducted an interview with Zog Energy. The article investigates how wording on some comparison websites is designed to mislead. With millions of households using switching sites every year to compare all the energy deals on the market many are unaware that they are not necessarily seeing the full range of deals available.

At Zog we aim to be as transparent as possible with how we charge. When you join us we look at your previous energy use, add up the total year's cost and split your direct debit into 12 equal monthly payments to cover this.  We don't take any money until after your switching date, so your first direct debit might be more to cover the period from the switching date to your first direct debit.

For example, if your switching date is the 5th of the month, your first direct debit will be a third more. This covers the period from 5th to 15th (10 days) and one whole month.Direct debits are collected on the 15th of each month and cover the gas for the coming month.

What you will find is that during the summer your direct debit is higher than your energy use, and during the winter it is lower.  By spreading your payments evenly over the year, there are no nasty surprises in the winter bills.

We hold regular Direct Debit reviews throughout the year to check your monthly payments are in line with your energy consumption.  This is made more accurate by giving us regular meter readings.

If you have any questions about how we price then please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Is a dual fuel tariff the cheapest option?

You would think so from everything you read so we decided to analyse the market to find out. At Zog we are committed to consistently low prices at rates that are considerably cheaper than the larger suppliers. Having checked our tariffs against other suppliers offering dual fuel discount and single fuel electricity prices we have proved that for average usage cheaper prices are still available if you use different suppliers for gas and electricity. Remember that if you have a dual fuel discount at present this will have already been included in the calculations when you input your usage details on the comparison sites. In most cases this will have shown a saving even after the dual fuel discount has been applied which shows how much cheaper we are! However as individual's circumstances vary we would always recommend customers review individual suppliers prices to ensure that you fully understand the impact on any dual fuel tariff you may currently be paying.

We hope to be live on these sites in the next few weeks. Why wait? Sign up now.
