If I've got any rich friends with money trying to burn holes in their pockets, a DJI Inspire with dual remotes would be awesome! :p

I'm working on a costume that will have a very large number of NeoPixels (500+) on it, that need to be on for 20 or more hours, and am searching for the right battery(ies) to use. The costume will be worn at an outdoor festival with limited access to electricity, so high capacity cells are a must. I initially used 18650 cells, but the battery holders couldn't handle the current requirements, even though the batteries themselves did fine. Overall, the LEDs could potentially draw as much as 30-40 amps at any given time, though under most circumstances, the total draw will be closer to 1 amp. any ideas? Low cost is obviously prefered, as I may end up needing several cells to be able to swap when needed.

yeah, LiPo will probably be the way I end up going. luckily the power converters I have (I think they are TI high efficiency buck converters) can source 10A each at over 98% efficiency, from any source voltage between 5.25 and 25V (obviously less efficient the more voltage has to be dropped) I hadn't thought of using RC packs, but I will look into that! by a back-of-the-napkin calc, I'll be needing roughly 15-20 amp hours worth of capacity, at 2-3C discharge rate, or smaller higher discharge cells with more swaps... Will do more research! thanks!!

Excellent video on the FIRST robotics program in the US that aims to change the culture idolizing entertainment celebrities and sports stars to one that celebrates scientists, engineers and visionaries. Watch how young kids are inspired to build the robotic applications of the future.

SHAME ON YOU MAKERBOT. Actions like this are fucking disgraceful. There was a time when you respected the open source community.
Early this morning, someone on one of the 3D Printer development list that I belong to pointed out that MakerBot recently filed a slew of patents.  Skimming through the patents filed, I came across this: http://www.freepatentsonline.com/y2014/0117575.html As someone who had been working with auto-levelling on the Kossel Pro, this was a very rude surprise.  In a nutshell - Auto Levelling is The Next Big Thing for repraps.  It is what...

Holy cow! I know I have been working on two of the patents myself for at least two years. Build plate with integrated temperature sensing and multicolor printing. Some of these are so vague that they could cross technologies like the network printing ones. Sending gcode (compressed or not) across the network has been happening for a long time.
