When I created clipboard.js I just wanted an easy way to add "copy to clipboard" buttons on my sites. I decided to make it open source and suddenly, thousands of people adopted worldwide.

Although I'm super happy with the result of that project, there are still big sites that I don't have control over which I would love to have that same functionality.

With that in mind, I decided to create a new browser extension that adds a copy to clipboard button on every code snippet. It's very simple, yet super useful.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/codecopy/fkbfebkcoelajmhanocgppanfoojcdmg

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/codecopy/

It works with GitHub, MDN, Gist, StackOverflow, StackExchange, npm, and even Medium.

And if you want to add a new site, feel free to recommend it at https://github.com/zenorocha/codecopy :)

Did you like it? Let me know on the comments!

One of my favorite podcasts invited me for an interview about open source and the importance of side projects. This is a very nice subject and it's something that shaped my career so far.

I hope you guys like it :)

Do you guys use Soy templates (aka. Google Closure templates)?

In order to facilitate adoption and day to day usage, I created a collection of cool hidden and not so hidden features.

Check that out and feel free to send a pull request with your own tips!

On August, 2013, I announced a project called CustomElements.io.

The idea was simple, to build a place where people could share their Web Components.

From that day on, a huge community began to emerge. Over 2,600 projects were registered there and we had more than 1,800,000 page views from all over the world.

Today, we retired this project in favor of webcomponents.org. This will be the place for the next generation of Web Components.

I feel honored to have been part of this story and I'll keep doing everything I can to help the web community. Thanks everybody who participated somehow!

In 2012 I started a project called Browser Diet (https://browserdiet.com). This guide opened the eyes of hundreds of thousands of developers to care about the speed of the sites they were building.

Since that time I wanted to create something that not only inform, but also would help to identify what could be improved in terms of performance.

Today I would like to introduce to you a new project called Browser Calories (https://browserdiet.com/calories). The idea is that you can calculate in a funny way how much a particular site weighs. And with these numbers in hand, compare whether it is good or bad related to the top 100 websites worldwide.

Go ahead, install the extension and let me know what you think ;) https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/browser-calories/pdkibgfjegigkoaleelbkdpkgceljfco
