“How can we expect politicians who routinely receive campaign money, lucrative job offers, and lavish gifts from special interests to make impartial decisions that directly affect those same special interests?” Gidfar said. “As long as this kind of transparently corrupt behavior remains legal, we won’t have a government that truly represents the people.”

Critics of the controversial Trans-Pacific Partnership are unlikely to be silenced by an analysis of the flood of money it took to push the pact over its latest hurdle

Just a few classes (and 12+ hour days) away from my #audio production certificate. Working with sound is something that I really love and I'm excited to pursue it on a wider scale than I am currently.

I am loving this late spring weather here in #Seattle . Makes me feel bad about working in an office, but we've got a great view.

Gravitational waves are such a neat cosmic phenomenon. Just imagine, something so massive and fast-moving that it can send a sort of wake into space. Going down the nano-second pulsar rabbit hole is a good time, fer sure.

Advanced Laser Gravitational Wave Observatories (Advanced LIGO) Dedicated on May 19
From the NSF: Seeking to expand how we observe and understand the universe where we live, the National Science Foundation today helped dedicate the Advanced Laser Gravitational Wave Observatories (Advanced LIGO) at the LIGO Hanford facility in Richland, Wash. The California Institute of Technology and Massachusetts Institute of Technology designed the NSF-funded facilities and operate them with the goal of observing and recording gravitational waves for the first time. Those discoveries would allow us to learn more about the phenomena, such as supernovae and colliding black holes, that generate the waves. Quick note on some recent legislation in #washington .

Washington State Legislature -- HB 1175, regarding penalties, both civil and criminal, for actions relating to campaign contribution fraud.
A couple of provisions of note are:

Sec 1.1.c: ..."a person or entity who violates [this code] may be subject to a civil penalty of ten thousand dollars or three times the amount of the contribution illegally made or accepted..."

Sec 3.4: "A person who has notified the attorney general and the prosecuting attorney... may himself or herself bring... any of the civil actions... under this chapter."

While #remodeling  our downstairs bathroom, we discovered mold/insect damage. With help from a friend, we were able to have it taken care of within a day.

This is our go-to dog boarding service. Leslie is great with dogs, both young and old. Our Heelers always have a great time with Wild Side!

Knowledgeable, friendly staff, good prices and an in-house repair shop. My wife and I both got our bikes here and we haven't had a single issue, save for a small manufacturer's fault on mine. The staff were quick to fix it at no charge, which put a smile on my face.

This place is an incredible experience. From the tunnels, to the skate park, to the outdoor climbing area, it's just amazing. Also, there's a bar. :D

My friends and I love coming here for a pint or two. Their outdoor is huge and their beers are great. Try the Summer Ale!

Pretty good burgers and the staff are nice. They don't always have 100% accuracy with the orders, however.

One of the best, diviest, bar-cades in town. The drinks are cheap, the selection of games is great and the atmosphere is really relaxed. Also, there's usually a tasty food truck parked outside.
