After a previous Google Webmaster Hangout there were some assumptions the Google Penguin 3 update was materializing the following week, which turned out to be a little premature.
So I thought I'd mention that at this morning's HOA, John Mueller more specifically suggested that it was still more than a few weeks away. I also mention this because some webmasters may be concerned that they're too late to start working on their disavow projects, as the reindexing iterations still take some weeks.
Is it true that Google is in the final stages of releasing Penguin? Would you estimate that it's days, or weeks away now?
John Mueller's Answer:
Yes, we're working on it. I'd estimate probably a few weeks, not too much longer. But as always these kind of time frames are really hard to judge, because we do a lot of testing towards the end & we need to make sure that things are working right before we actually release these kind of changes.
Obviously that's not written in stone, but we also know it's coming before year's end.
As for anyone working on their link cleanup projects, John has previously recommended that you still go ahead with them, because even if it's done too late for this update, at least it will be ready early for the next one & those are going to be more frequent.
Michael Jordan or LeBron James? Best pizza in New York City? The definitive James Bond? These are just some of the questions that can only be answered by asking those around us. Starting today, you can use polls on Google+ to settle the burning issues of our generation...or at least find out what your friends are thinking.
Polls make it easy to get opinions from your friends and followers on the things you’re curious about. You can create polls with up to five choices and use photos to make them beautiful and engaging. Check out the album on this post for examples from , , and .
Of course, no poll is as interesting as the one you want answered, so give it a try for yourself -- just look for the new poll icon when creating a post. Polls will become available over the next few days on Android and the web, and are coming soon to iOS.
We’re excited to see how polls will spark conversations, so please share feedback with us as we work to make polls great for people, pages and communities on Google+.
