This is my entry for this week's Weekly Photo Project, theme straight out of camera (SOOC). I had some fun making this photo. I don't general do macro photos SOOC, much less with an off camera flash. I'm pretty happy with how this one came out, everything, including white balance is straight out of the camera and shot in JPG.

The fucking bass drum pedal squeak in this drives me nuts. I like the song but the squeak before every bass drum hit is awful.

I thought long and hard about what I think best typified symmetry in my life. And suddenly I realized that it's been right above me the whole time. This is a 2 bladed ceiling fan that hangs above the bed in the guest bedroom in my house. Its symmetry is why it can rotate without ridiculous vibration.

Pulling a toy guy is a good way to get shot. What an idiot.

WOW! You're right. I remember pranks like telling someone to smell your flower and squirting water in their face.

Not pretending to rob people. A great way to get someone shot!

I love this drink. The Whiskey Revelation is amazing. If you love bourbon you'll like this one.

Went to a primate sanctuary the other day for retired primates (Former acting apes and former lab animals). I don't know exactly what I was expecting to see, but it seemed to me that many of them were depressed in captivity. I know the volunteers were doing their best to help them, and if the primates were released into the wild they'd never survive.

I felt this photo from the day captured what I was feeling about it.

Introduction
I'm a proud member of the bull moose and squirrel party. I use that to mean that I'm a fairly liberal minded person, but I feel that neither the democrats nor the republicans really speak to my actual views.

As far as what I post... I have a variety of interests, and a number of people have circled me for various things. I post about photography (and my photos, I try to make sure to post 3 or 4 per week atleast), technology (kind of have to, I'm a software engineer), home brewing, and political issues.

Any beer recipe I share here is shared as creative commons attribution, share-alike. Meaning you're free to repost it, share it how you want, modify it, brew it, etc. as long as you attribute it to its original source.

All of my photography is creative commons, share-alike, attribution, non-commercial. Meaning you are free to share my photography (however it must be attributed to me) for non-commercial purposes.

I can drink a whole case of PBR

Ashton Cigar Bar is one of my favorite places in the whole city. There's great cocktails, beers, and other liquor. I love the Rhuby Slipper... I never would have thought a drink with whisky and rhubarb spirits would taste good, but man it is delicious. The other great part about Ashton is you can smoke cigars (or cigarettes or pipes I suppose) there... Where else in the city can you do that? Go there.

I had a great buying experience at Glanzmann. I went to several different dealerships that day, had a variety of different sales tactics used on me, but the one thing that stuck out to me is the fact that Glanzmann treated me with a great deal of respect, both for my time and my decision making process. I worked with Mark Hughes to find my car and we drove 3 different cars until I decided on my Legacy 3.6R. I had a list of 3 different cars that I wanted to test drive and he was willing and able to let me test drive them and make my own decisions based on what I thought about the handling and performance. He didn't try to tell me the right way to go, just told me a little bit about them and let the test drive do the talking. And that's the sort of experience I like to have at a dealership. I ended up walking out of the dealership after my test drives, having resolved to make my decision later and test drive the other cars on my list (a Ford, a Chevy, and a Nissan). A few days later I had made my decision, called and made an offer on the car. After we had agreed to the price, I went in to pick it up. I had the quickest title/paperwork session I've ever had (the finance guy made an effort to have everything ready and waiting for me in advance) with absolutely no surprises. On top of that, once I completed the paperwork, they made my first service appointment for me for my complementary first oil change. After I had signed all of the paperwork, Mark took a half hour to make sure I understood how to use everything in the car. I really appreciate the fact that he took the time to make sure I'd be able to use everything and appreciate my car to the fullest; I don't think every dealership would do that. All in all, Glanzmann is a great place to do business. The staff is very friendly, and they take a no nonsense approach to helping you find the right car for you. They're not interested in selling you things you don't want, and treat you with the respect you deserve as a customer. I can't say the same thing about every dealership I visited.

Jobspring got me my current job. I love my current job and I think Jobspring made a huge effort to match me with employers I would want to work for. Jobspring is different from other recruiters in that they bring you in for an in person interview at their location and talk about your goals with you to try to understand where you would fit best. I worked with Miles and what made him stand out to me among the other recruiters I've used before is he spent a lot more time listening and was willing to accept it when I didn't want to apply places. I found them to be very proactive in advocating for candidates, getting good feedback from interviewers, and very supportive in the job search process.
