New Year's Resolution: To share every article I write for the State News on Google+. My latest highlights the top players from the Big Ten to keep an eye out for in the Senior Bowl.
MSU will be represented well this week in the 2015 Reese's Senior Bowl, as several of the country's most talented upperclassmen showcase their skills on the field in front of a plethora of NFL scouts and coaches.  With the college football season officially over, the road to future professional careers begins at Ladd Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.

The NCAA announced on Monday that the new Detroit Red Wings arena will host the first-and-second round games of the 2018 tournament, just months after the scheduled completion.
The state of Michigan isn’t unfamiliar when it comes to hosting NCAA basketball tournament games during the month of March. In fact, it was just two seasons ago when the Palace of Auburn Hills hosted second and third round games, which included both Michigan and Michigan State. But the last time the tournament was played in the […]

Former Cass Tech standout Jayru Campbell was sentenced to seven months in jail on Tuesday as result of a violation of his parole.
The fallout of Cass Tech high school quarterback, Jayru Campbell started when the Technicians lost to Detroit Catholic Central in the MHSAA playoffs last year. Following Cass Tech’s 28-0 defeat to the Shamrocks in the semifinals, Campbell can be seen punching an opposing player in the handshake lines. The former Michigan State commit had to […]

According to Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope's injury won't be a long term concern. Only a left knee strain.
The possibility of losing second-year pro Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for the unseeable future sounds more like a nightmare for a rebuilding Detroit Pistons team. But when that nightmare almost became a reality during Sunday’s exhibition game against the Washington Wizards, losing him for at least three preseason games doesn’t sounds that bad, compared to the amount of  time Caldwell-Pope would have […]

Pat Narduzzi's search for a head coaching job didn't stop at just Pittsburgh and Colorado State, it also included a Big Ten program.
Pat Narduzzi's success as a defensive coordinator for the Michigan State Spartans was so renowned that his head coaching search didn't stop at just Colorado State and Pittsburgh.

Their defeat to No. 3 ranked Ohio State this past Friday didn't come as a shocker for Michigan State's wrestling team, but they'll get the chance to forget the loss on Thursday when they travel to Eastern Michigan.

Chris Wesseling of NFL.com ranked wide receiver Golden Tate No. 10 on his list of potential MVP candidates after seeing how much of an impact the former Super Bowl has had on the Detroit Lions.
Going from reigning Super Bowl champions to potentially finding their way out of the playoffs wasn’t the situation the Seattle Seahawks were hoping to be in heading into week 12. Faced with the realization that they aren’t the same dominant football team as they were before, the Seahawks have struggled to find bright spots on […]

Detroit Free Press columnist Drew Sharp left the No. 12 Michigan State Spartans out of his AP ballot this past Sunday following the Ohio State Buckeyes' upset in East Lansing. Was Sharp's decision valid or unnecessary?
It’s been a while since I published a Michigan State Spartans preview on Detroit Jock City, so why not start now after the program’s crushing defeat at home against the Ohio State Buckeyes. I had the opportunity to watch my first game from the student section rather than the press box this season at Spartan Stadium […]

Free agent Victor Martinez is seeking an offer equal to or greater than the four-year, $52 million deal he signed with the Detroit Tigers four-years ago. Could the Chicago White Sox be willing to lay out that much money for the 35-year old?

Joel Hanrahan, who did not pitched last season for the Detroit Tigers, is interested in coming back to the team as he's set to hit free agency.
It’s been more than three weeks since the Detroit Tigers last took the field at Comerica Park, when they were ousted in the American League Division Series in three games by the Baltimore Orioles. The team has had a little bit of time to assess their plans for the winter, as to who they’re planning on […]
