What concepts/skills/problems/ideas could a game help teach that are
hard to teach conventionally?

What are your students/kids passionate about that a video game could help students explore? What don’t they get in the classroom? #education   #games

As an integration specialist I don't often get to teach kids. When I do it is usually a webmaker or digital citizenship activity.
Jokaydia (minecraft@jokaydia.com) uses minecraft and Second Life to teach digital citizenship skills, but again not a classroom situation.
You might want to check out the World Peace Game https://novoed.com/education/blog_posts/23621?data_type=report
Games are a great way to teach, but I would suspect they are being forced into a niche/disruptor role because it is too difficult to "cover" the right material thus not acceptable in the regular classroom

The reality is that we are all the time interested in measuring the growth of our students rather than nurturing or helping them to grow.

I hope you can make this conversation about the impact of Delpit's work on professional practice and how we can lean in to the difficult conversations around race in education.

Great piece in the New York Times about failure and its upside.
Two new books present failure — personal and professional — as a quintessential part of success.

What do you think of the concept of "unhomework?"
Teacher Mark Creasy has turned the traditional concept of homework on it's head by tasking his students with the administration and assessment. Here's how it works

This will make it easier to convince parents to have meaningful learning through pbl for primary level pupils.

My first time here was a happy accident during a long layover after 24+ hours of flight time. The second time is on purpose and its fantastic. Whatever you do, have chowder and have it in a bread bowl. And enjoy.
