Introduction
Yvonne Yen Liu is based in Oakland, California, where the sun smiles on her everyday. Although a native of NYC, she and the city have broken up and went their separate ways. She is the research director at the Restaurant Opportunities Center United, a worker center fighting for better wages and working conditions for low-wage, restaurant workers. Formerly, she was the senior researcher at the Applied Research Center, publisher of Colorlines.com. Yvonne serves on the board of the Center for Story-based Strategy and is a member of the Research Justice Collective. She has a BA in cultural anthropology from Columbia University and a MA degree in sociology from the CUNY Graduate Center, where she pursued a PhD.
