See you soon this weekend #GDG SG on #ioextended

Announcing our first batch of speakers for Google I/O Extended 2015 - SG50 edition

Speaker:
- Name: Mohit Singh Kanwal
- Title: Software Engineer
- Organisation: Pie.co
- Bio: Mohit currently works for Pie making better chat for work on the Android platform. Having built 2 chat applications previously, he believes Android is "THE" platform for mobile application development. In his free time, he loves to hack on side projects, and contributes to open source software, notably Mozilla Calendar Project and Thunderbird. These days he is trying to become a better speaker and a suitable mentor for Google Summer of Code projects.

Presentation:
- Title: Materialize your App: Lessons learnt from building a chat application
- Abstract: Material Design principles were first introduced in Google I/O 2014. Pie latched on to the idea very early on, revising the entire application design in favour of Material Design guidelines. This talk compiles my reflection as a developer implementing some or most of these principles in code as well as what the new Google I/O Material Design updates mean for us. We shall also explore some ways to define the structure of your next Android application to be "materialistic" from the start with emphasis on performance, smooth animations etc.

One of my favorite from Jake's blog post "Just because it's there, doesn't mean you must learn it and use it"

The web must keep developing! My response to ppk suggesting the web should stop adding new features for a year:
If we stand still, we go backwards. Posted 03 August 2015. Recently, ppk claimed the web is going too fast in the wrong direction, and it should stop, for a year. I got a bit snarky about it on Twitter, which isn't really fair, so here's a more considered response.

How instagram scale their engineering. Do the simple thing first!
It's easy to avoid complications when you're tiny. Doing it at scale is a bigger challenge.

I love the place and it's not crowded as other place. It's easy to book and the result is as expected. Ask for extra refreshment if you need it, specially after a  tiring week.

The parking spot too crowded. It's quite hard to get parking spot when you back after 11pm. But i like the park in middle of building.
