This place was great! Between the food, drinks, service, and views, we could not have spent our first night in LA any better! The "Reclining-Buddha" house roll was fantastic -- you should definitely try it. The mandatory valet parking was a little annoying at first, but the low cost, friendliness of the staff, and the incredible sprawling views of the city from the gardens definitely made us forget all about it. This definitely is a "Mountain Palace".

Terrible SERVICE: very slow, leave used plates for a long time, do no fill up your water glass, do not offer more drinks. Very disappointing. The food is just ok but not great. Waiters lack training or poor management. Overpriced. The only plus: the view. Many better places in LA.

The best restaurant ever. Get the hotate. Let me reiterate. HOTATE. They are amazing mouthfuls of crumminess! Yamashiro Hollywood has the best service and incredible food. Wish I could win the lottery to eat here every week.

The best noodle place in the area. Typically good and speedy service, cash only and cheap. The service, noodles and price get 4 stars. The rest of the food is typically good but nothing that stands out. So 4/5=

Epic iconic place. Must see if your visiting LA and want good food, history, outdoor drinking and amazing ambiance. Just aware during summer months on Thursday there is a farmer's market and tough to get around. The roads are tight and curving just like the Hollywood stars 😳

The food is always great but the service is too pending. Most staff are doing other jobs and do the waitress job next to their main job. So sometimes they are excellent and feel like acting as waitress is cool and they are knowledgable and fast and nice. Sometimes they just have a huge attitude. The newest experience was a hostess on a power trip. The restaurant was weekday empty with a few tables and made us wait. Then after the request when the table is ready, she said I asked to wait. And a voice in the rear, a manager even requested how long did you wait instead of seating right away himself. The current development of disrespectful staff full of attitude in gastronomy towards paying guests is unacceptable and will cost restaurants business. It is unnecessary and stupid and who ever taught them - play out the wait for a table rule - has no plan. Suisse world leading hotelier and restaurant schools would fire every student trying to implement the attitude of snobism towards clients by holding back empty tables, especially after a request when the seating is finished. That a hot dish is being served way before rolls and not the same time is another topic, but how much can you expect...

Would come again if in the mood for a real omakase. The truffle miso is a bowl of savory goodness. Best way to end a meal.
