Imaging systems are highly dependent of appropriate illumination. One approach is to make a big deal about the selection of the right light – hard to accomplish in outdoor scenarios. But also the image sensor technology is crucial, e.g. when there is too little light.
Despite the hype about #CMOS sensors, #XIMEA CEO explains how the KAE-02150 CCD sensor from ON Semiconductor has some tricks in its sleeve, like the ability to sample the charge captured by a single pixel without destroying it, and then directing the charge through a low- or high-gain amplifier depending on the light level in that pixel.

New article by #AIA: Multispectral and Hyperspectral Imaging Delivers Precision Inspection
#Hyperspectral imaging (#HSI) opens up all new applications through spectrum-based analysis of industrial products, tools, waste, and food. Yet, HSI is computational expensive, power consuming, and needs huge bandwidth. #XIMEA addresses these problems by extending its offerings from compact, lightweight, USB3 Vision compliant HSI-cameras to computational modules capable of processing hyperspectral data in real-time http://j.mp/XIMprdHSI
