A recent Xerox healthcare survey revealed that cost is a top consideration for Americans when selecting a provider or health plan – and even causes some to delay treatment. It also revealed that payers and providers have concerns about their value-based contracts and need help managing them to stay in the black.

In this Hangout, healthcare experts will discuss insights revealed by the survey about how consumers are interacting with the healthcare industry, how the shift to value based care is impacting payers/providers – and the gaps that exist in between.

Speakers include:
- Tamara StClaire, chief innovation officer, Xerox Healthcare Business Group
- Mandi Bishop, health plan analytics innovation practice lead, Dell
- Jennifer Dennard, digital diva, HIStalk
- David Rauch, global payer offering lead, Xerox Healthcare Business Group

Prescription drug abuse has reached epidemic levels in the U.S. in the last decade. Forty-four people across the nation die each day from overdosing on prescription painkillers, or opioids, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That’s more than 16,000 deaths annually, and doesn’t even account for the 475,000 emergency room visits each year. Lawmakers across the country are grappling with how to address the problems caused by high rate of opioid prescriptions, while still permitting adequate access to these medications for patients who require them for pain management.

Join us for a live discussion on opioid abuse prevention with a variety of healthcare and medical experts and Xerox executives.

Our panelists will have a lively discussion on the role appropriate care management plans can play in reducing prescription drug abuse. Topics of discussion will include: the root of the problem; components of why the problem exists, such as the funnel of patients entering the system for pain management; the impact drug abuse has on the community; and opportunities at the care management, pharmacy, employer and insurance levels to prevent abuse.

Panelists include:
Gail Levenson, principal, National Pharmacy Practice, Buck Consultants at Xerox;
Robert Monger, MD, Rheumatologist, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center;
Steve Calloway, director of pharmacy, MO HealthNet;
Andrew Kolodny, M.D., Chief Medical Officer of Phoenix House; and
Josh Moore, Pharm. D, MO HealthNet Executive Account Manager, Government Healthcare Solutions, Xerox.
