Can't wait till our 15.0 beta in couple of days? You could already give it a try by fetching a nightly build from http://kodi.tv/download/#devbuilds and tell how it works out

Chapter selection, language add-ons, improved international settings, code fixes and spring clean-up. These are just some of the things we worked on for our upcoming 15.0 release. Head to our website for further details and downloads. No this is not a joke.
In many ways, we could call Isengard the release that finally answers many of the oldest requests we have. With Alpha1 we introduced Skip Steps, which allow the user to more naturally and organically find the exact moment they are attempting to skip to in the show or movie, a request that's ...

For more infos read: http://openelec.tv/news/22-releases/160-openelec-5-0-6-released

The OpenELEC team is proud to announce OpenELEC 5.0.6.

OpenELEC-5.0 is the next stable release, which is a feature release and the successor of OpenELEC-4.2.

The headline change is the update from XBMC 13 (Gotham) to Kodi 14.2 (Helix) and the big switch from XBMC to Kodi branding. Both project teams have conducted a major find/replace but if you spot residual mentions of XBMC anywhere please let us know. The name change affects more than the GUI; all references in code have been changed and in the OpenELEC filesystem /storage/.xbmc will be recreated as a symlink to /storage/.kodi to ensure hardcoded paths in addons or scripts continue to work. For information on Kodi 14 you can find on http://kodi.tv/kodi-14-0-helix-unwinds/.

Kodi 15.0 is making itself strong and getting ready to walk the road to the final release. This first alpha has loads of clean-up, fixes, improvements and some nice new features. Don't worry, we will still release a final 14.2 version as well in due time.
Last year we shocked the community and the world with the announcement of our name change. Now some months later we are happy to see that a lot of people have adopted this change and embraced what is now know as Kodi. The best media center in the world… We promised that we would stick true to ...

+katwoman Savage A Few years ago I attempted a severely stripped down machine for running Openelec. got my hands on a Core2Duo 1.8Ghz, loaded Openelec to USB Stick, and used it to playback 1080p mkv files on a 47" LED, over a 100mb wired LAN. All that with only 256Mb RAM.
My Openelec server had 4Gb, but I never saw the usage reach much past 512Mb.

Here's the final release of Kodi 14.2. This marks the final point release before we move on to Kodi 15 “Isengard.” http://kodi.tv/kodi-14-2-helix-the-final-translation/
We are proud to announce Kodi 14.2. This marks the final point release before we move on to Kodi 15 “Isengard.” As you may all know by now, we have a new name, a new logo, and a wide variety of new features, but underneath the new coat of paint remains the same software we all love.

Current release that is available for Alpha testing is 15.0 alpha. Don't forget to accept the "Kodi Alpha builds agreement" which you can find in the description section. Should you already have a lower version installed, you will atomically receive the update after some time. By going to the Play Store link you can also push this version to devices which don't have it installed yet and are compatible. Detailed information about the current release can be found through our website or blog posts.
