We would just like to take a step back and consider the past few years of XBMC community growth.

For all XBMC python add-on developers out there. We have updated the PyDocs for the upcoming XBMC 13.0 Gotham release. These documents contain useful information regarding XBMC python modules for building you own add-on.
Any changes done between 12.0 and 13.0 are also listed here:

There is a growing (and worrying) misconception caused by some websites and people who sell HTPC devices with XBMC pre-installed. These often contain add-ons from we which we would like to clearly distance ourselves, and for which we will not offer support of any kind. We will not call these add-ons by name.
However if it all seems to be good to be true like watching content (movies and tvshows) for free, you should start asking yourself if this can still be considered legal. In some countries it can be considered clearly illegal.
It a regretful development that in our eyes, the most awesome media centre there is, is clouded by such a development. These few people are giving and spreading a misconception of what XBMC is and stands for, and are giving it a bad name. We would like to remind everyone that XBMC should be seen as a media centre platform for which you must provide your own media obtained through a legally obtained manor, PVR or by using add-ons which do not clearly violate copyright laws.
Hopefully we can break this tide and restore and improve our good name that we worked so hard for. As always the only and official news and XBMC versions can be found at from http://xbmc.org/about/ Please help us and spread the word of the true purpose of XBMC. Thank you.

It's a zip file that was created by a user that rip the commercial out of hulu plus. It only works with hulu plus account not the free one.  It hasn't work for a while now.  You can go to superrepo.org for more info.  I haven't use xbmc for a while but that was the only reason I ever got it in the first place.

They mention several apps to clean up tagging of your music files so you have the best success adding them to XBMC music library
Your music library is precious. It's full of hard-to-find tracks, ripped CDs, and rare downloads. It might also be a mess. It can be easier to look up those songs on Spotify than enjoy the high-quality audio files you own. Luckily, there are some great free tools to clean it up and make sure that never happens again. Let's check out the best.

I mentioned that xbmc wasn't importing my flac files a few years ago. I was told there's nothing wrong. I did find having the "album artist" field filled in helped, but I still have many tracks that still don't show up.

With XBMC 13.0 Gotham Beta 4 we are only looking at bug fixing rather than features. Hopefully Beta 4 will be the last one, before we will enter Release Candidate stage. Get it while it's hot.

Attempted to download and trail to update from 12.3 (windows) but chrome is preventing download as malicious. Anyone else have this.

Incidentally the samba shares don't seem to work from HTC one anymore but then I've also updated it to 4.4.2 also.

We are working towards the next Beta or Release Candidate version of our upcoming XBMC 13.0 Gotham release. Since the Beta3 release there already have been some bugs found and fixed. These fixes are incorporated in the daily build "nightly" versions which can be found through http://xbmc.org/download/ page. Of course there will be a short list of the fixes on our next blog post which can be found on http://xbmc.org If you are already running these beta builds it should be relatively safe to install these builds and help us track down any remaining major issues. Thank you all for your support and hope you will keep enjoying XBMC.

Ohloh is a website which provides a web services suite and online community platform that aims to map the landscape of open source software development. As of such XBMC is also listed. Here you can see the growth of the code base as it started in 2003 until today. The amount contributors to the code and how often code gets changed and apparently 2,080 years of effort (calculated using the COCOMO model) .
