Hospitals become a vital place for communities to seek care and refuge in the aftermath of natural disasters. Does your hospital have an updated disaster recovery plan in place? This article from the Association of Healthcare Journalists is a good place to start for many of the aspects of your plan that should be included:

We thought we might be done worrying about wildfires here in California after the Diablo winds created the worst firestorm in state history right here in our home of Sonoma County. Unfortunately, the Santa Ana winds are still blowing hard and have cause a massive outbreak of fires down south. This is an extremely dangerous situation that will most likely get much worse before it gets better:

6 large wildfires
141,000 acres burned
190,000+ people under mandatory evacuation
25,000 homes threatened
8,700 personnel battle the fires

As a company that provides emergency response communication tools and services, we are all too familiar with the difficult job in impossible situations our first responders do their jobs. The men and women of CalFire and other responding agencies answer the call to protect lives and property every time, no matter how exhausted they are from the last extended response. Please listen to emergency response officials and not make their job any harder. Stay safe everyone!

The holidays tend to get a bit hectic. From Halloween to just after New Years Day has become a continual rush of sales, promotions and consumerism. We are all about business here at X2nSat, but it is always nice to have a reminder about what is truly important in our lives and to be grateful. Our Director of Marketing, Jena Blazer, shares some perspectives in our latest blog post:

It is hard to believe that it has been just over a month since fires ravaged massive swaths of Sonoma County. While it will takes years to rebuild the structures lost, the human spirit here is still standing, strong and resilient. We have always been proud to live in a place where we look after our friends and neighbors. That is true today more than ever!

Thankfully Hurricane Nate did not pack the wallop that the other storms did and has been downgraded to a tropical depression. Our teams have been busy at work helping our customers recover during the difficult hurricane season. It will take many months and beyond for some of these areas to fully recovery, especially in Puerto Rico where we have been deploying equipment and other assets. We hope that Nate is the last named storm we have to deal with this year.

We recently attended the RSPA’s RetailNOW! Trade show in Las Vegas. On display were all the latest and greatest advancements in Point-of-Sale technology. If you have not updated your POS systems or backup capabilities in the last few years you are probably missing out. Read more about it all in our latest blog article here:

Our thoughts and prayers go out to our friends and neighbors in Mexico as they deal with the aftermath of a massive earthquake. All of this on the heels of multiple major hurricanes in the Atlantic. Any loss of life is tragic in these situations, but we are also seeing amazing examples of the human spirit and people helping one another. Thanks to all the first responders everywhere who selflessly help those in need. Be safe!
