Novelist Durk van der Ploeg is the winner of the 2011 Gysbert Japicx Prize, and he will be awarded with this special honor today. The prize is €5,000 and is one of the most important prizes for literature in Friesland. This year's selection committee consisted of Sietske de Jong, Ate Grijpstra, and Willem Verf, and the prize is awarded for the writer's total literary output. Several of van der Ploeg's works have been featured in the pages of WLT. http://www.nlpvf.nl/basic/auteur1.php?Author_ID=208
