Just as students graduate from school, national governments can graduate from WFP’s school feeding program. Here’s how countries like Botswana and Cape Verde “graduated” by taking control of their school meals programs. http://buff.ly/1IpnGAK

These food items are ready for distribution at the warehouses of local partner SHS in #Aden, #Yemen, after being moved from ships that began reaching the port on July 21. Collectively, two ships carried about 6,200 tons of food, enough for about 350,000 people for one month. A third ship brought in 500,000 liters of fuel to serve the partners’ needs.

When Elizabeth Nyalat was forced to flee her home in #SouthSudan in 2014, she had to put her education on hold. Now in #Ganyiel and receiving food assistance from #WFP, she volunteers as a teacher at a local school and helps shape brighter futures for young students.

Did you know that the world produces enough food to feed the entire global population? Yet, one in nine people are hungry. Here are some of the causes of hunger: http://buff.ly/1JDnUVD

This might sound weird but I always thought it would be more like at least half the population like 5 in 8 or something.

In #SouthSudan, one-third of the population is severely food insecure. As conflict continues to make the delivery of food assistance more difficult, the #ONECampaign urges world leaders not to forget the young country.

#WFP’s Youth Ambassador Against #Hunger Jessica Watson, the youngest person to sail solo around the world, recently visited Lebanon and Jordan for her native Australia with WFP. In these diary entries, she reflects on sailing in the Mediterranean with a group of teens from #Syria and #Lebanon and visiting refugee families living in camps. http://buff.ly/1IKSimu

Even after receiving a clean bill of health, #Ebola survivors must manage the difficult process of regaining their livelihoods. In #SierraLeone, WFP cash transfers play an important role in helping survivors like Kadiatu get back on their feet. http://buff.ly/1MpArBf

Fighting Hunger Worldwide
Introduction
Hunger is the single greatest problem of our time, affecting nearly a billion people around the world. It robs children of their potential and it harms their minds and bodies. Hungry children can’t learn, hungry patients can’t heal and hungry parents can’t free themselves from poverty.

We are the World Food Programme, the biggest humanitarian aid agency in the world. When we’re not saving lives in emergencies, we’re helping families get back on their feet. When we’re not serving meals in school, we’re shielding mothers and kids from malnutrition.

This is our page on Google+. Follow us and join the fight against hunger.
