One of the greatest gifts we can give others is opportunity.

In rural Nepal, WFP meals encourage parents to send their daughters, who would usually be kept at home to do chores, to school.

If there’s enough food to feed every person in the world, why does hunger exist? Things like poverty and natural disaster can exacerbate barriers to available food. Here are some other causes of hunger: https://www.wfp.org/hunger/causes

Madame Gilberte Wadji runs an orphanage in the Central African Republic, where more than 100 people took shelter at the height of the crisis in December. In addition to caring for the children at the orphanage, she supports foster children staying with families at Bangui refugee camps. WFP is there to help, supporting the orphanage with food assistance. http://wfp.tumblr.com/

What are you thinking?

Now free from worries, 7-year-old Maadhushika concerns herself with new things to learn in school, where she receives WFP meals. After living in IDP camps during the conflict, her family has returned to their home in Northern Province, #SriLanka .

Who would've thought that #mangroves  could help heal a war-torn community in Zamboanga, #Philippines ?

After being caught in the crossfire, Maribel & her neighbors lost their seaweed farms - their main source of income. WFP's Food-for-Work helped them recover: http://goo.gl/BmtqBT

“If you take any economy in the world and you take out commerce and logistics, everything will stop,” says WFP’s Chief Economist Arif Husain. “In CAR, this is exactly what is happening.” Read more and watch the video of his assessment of the dire situation in the Central African Republic: http://bit.ly/1e8Ga06 #CARcrisis #CARCantWait

Fighting Hunger Worldwide
Introduction
Hunger is the single greatest problem of our time, affecting nearly a billion people around the world. It robs children of their potential and it harms their minds and bodies. Hungry children can’t learn, hungry patients can’t heal and hungry parents can’t free themselves from poverty.

We are the World Food Programme, the biggest humanitarian aid agency in the world. When we’re not saving lives in emergencies, we’re helping families get back on their feet. When we’re not serving meals in school, we’re shielding mothers and kids from malnutrition.

This is our page on Google+. Follow us and join the fight against hunger.
