In the Central African Republic, WFP is providing food and seeds to families and farmers to help improve their food security. But more support is needed to ensure that farmers can plant crops ahead of the upcoming lean season. http://buff.ly/1H3Pehe

“Thanks to the support we received from WFP staff, I am well and my family in Rwanda is safe and sound.” During the Rwandan genocide, Cedric was a refugee facing hunger. Today, he is a graduate student learning to fight it. http://buff.ly/1LX786D

Emergencies can happen anytime. That's why it's good to always be prepared.

For WFP, in addition to other preparedness measures, this means leveraging on existing #partnerships  just like in the #Philippineshttp://bit.ly/1FQ0tWE

Sometimes the difference between dreaming and doing is having a meal.

WFP #schoolmeals  help 160,000 primary & secondary students in #SriLanka  work towards making their #dreams  come true.

How is it to be part of the first Surge team deployed by WFP in an #emergency ? What should you pack? Hint: Don't skimp on undergarments!

We do whatever it takes to deliver.

In Gorjonia union, one of the areas affected by recent flash #floods  in #Bangladesh , WFP transported High-Energy Biscuits by trucks, small pickups & then by boat. It took us 5 hours only to move all 1,250 cartons across a river to help 12,000 people.

“I tie scarves around my boys’ bellies at night so they don’t wake up crying from stomach aches because they are hungry,” says Fatmeh, a Syrian refugee in Lebanon. “I know the world has forgotten us; we’re too much of a burden. They’ve given up on us too.” http://buff.ly/1NwdhIe

Fighting Hunger Worldwide
Introduction
Hunger is the single greatest problem of our time, affecting nearly a billion people around the world. It robs children of their potential and it harms their minds and bodies. Hungry children can’t learn, hungry patients can’t heal and hungry parents can’t free themselves from poverty.

We are the World Food Programme, the biggest humanitarian aid agency in the world. When we’re not saving lives in emergencies, we’re helping families get back on their feet. When we’re not serving meals in school, we’re shielding mothers and kids from malnutrition.

This is our page on Google+. Follow us and join the fight against hunger.
