Did You Know? #Mauritania covers more than a million square kilometers in Africa, but it is made up of mostly desert. Less than four percent of the country is suitable for growing crops, so it does not produce enough food to feed its population. http://buff.ly/1d1JqKA

In Australia only 4% of land is suitable for growing crops also. Go figure.

A big congratulations goes out to #WFP Executive Director Ertharin Cousin for being named one of “The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women” by #Forbes Magazine. As the largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide, WFP is stronger for having such a committed woman leading the way to #ZeroHunger. http://buff.ly/1LHYokr

In 2014, WFP reached 80 million people in 82 countries with food assistance, and children accounted for 64 percent of those reached. Check out some of #WFP’s other key achievements in our annual report: http://buff.ly/1BnfLl8

Heads up! These parachutes falling from the sky in South Sudan are carrying vegetable oil from WFP. Read the story of WFP’s first successful drop of this key commodity. http://buff.ly/1GuaFto

The number of hungry people in the world has dropped to 795 million from 805 million, according to the just-released 2015 State of Food Insecurity in the World Report. In light of the growing global population, this means the number of undernourished people has dropped by 216 million since 1990-92. http://buff.ly/1GDBStB #SOFI2015

In the one month since the devastating #NepalQuake struck, #WFP has distributed food to more than 1.7 million people in the worst-affected areas. In hard-to-reach regions, we have teams of mountaineers carrying relief supplies. This donkey is loaded up with rice to be carried across mountainous terrain. http://buff.ly/1FBiyLk

Food is food. What do you mean by damaged. If food has not expired and the packages only damage due to be in transit there is nothing wrong with it.
Be greatfull for the countries donating the food.
There are many people who go hungry and you have the Odesity to complain about damaged food.

These drums of fuel were moved into Yemen on a WFP-chartered vessel, and they’re now loaded onto trucks to aid in emergency operations. Check out other ways WFP logistics teams are playing a key role in the humanitarian community in Yemen. http://buff.ly/1dp8CLX

These women are part of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) at their children’s school in the Central African Republic. But rather than prepping for a bake sale, they’re preparing school meals for the young students. http://buff.ly/1AjRZeP

Even before conflict in Yemen began, almost half of the population did not know where their next meal would come from. Despite security challenges, WFP has delivered emergency food assistance to more than 1.7 million vulnerable people in the past month. http://buff.ly/1cSaWdx

Fighting Hunger Worldwide
Introduction
Hunger is the single greatest problem of our time, affecting nearly a billion people around the world. It robs children of their potential and it harms their minds and bodies. Hungry children can’t learn, hungry patients can’t heal and hungry parents can’t free themselves from poverty.

We are the World Food Programme, the biggest humanitarian aid agency in the world. When we’re not saving lives in emergencies, we’re helping families get back on their feet. When we’re not serving meals in school, we’re shielding mothers and kids from malnutrition.

This is our page on Google+. Follow us and join the fight against hunger.
