We have stayed here several times, and enjoy the cozy rooms that are all different. Jennifer does a great job at the front desk-- lots of personality. I'm sure we will be back.

Had an excellent time. Great accommodations. Good breakfast and good wine and cheese in the evening. Pet friendly. Good location. Within walking distance. We didn't drive anywhere. Very friendly staff. Corina even helped us jump start our car so we didn't have to wait with our 3 month old for a jump. Will stay again. Maybe we will try cottages next time... But
The lofts were pretty neat!

We spent the night there August 26, 2014. I loved the location of the Inn, the look and setup. The room was a standard room with a King bed. The package I got came with a tasting and bottle of wine from a local Winery- Great winery and great deal. The room was nice, clean, big enough. The bed was nice and also the layout. It was a cozy room and charming look to it and also the Inn. The problem we had, was that the room had an adjoining door to the room behind it and we could hear everything the people in there were doing, even brushing their teeth! And other things you can imagine. The walls are paper thin. They were up late talking, sounded like yelling because we could hear everything. Did not rest that night! Real shame, it looked like a place I've might have stayed again.

I stayed in the Deluxe Tower room. The room was well appointed. It was large, with high ceilings, free-standing fireplace, and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was easily accessible, roomy, and had good water pressure. The only areas which need improvement, in my opinion are lack of counter space in the bathroom. There was not much room for toiletries and cosmetics. The other comment, There are two lights, at either end of the room, which seemed designed to stay on. The bed is on an elevated level, so I am sure the lighting was meant for safety, however, I had to find ways to lower the light, in order to sleep. Other than that, I did enjoy complimentary hot breakfast. The property is lovely, and has a lovely garden area.

Your staff was pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed the wine bar and fireplace in the salon in the late afternoon. The complimentary breakfast was well presented and tasty. The fireplace in our room didn't have the required upper flu handle, so we couldn't use it. No big deal - but a detail. Our room felt a little too tucked away - no sense of view or anything outside the window. A bit disappointing, given the picturesque nature of the town - and the Inn itself, with its delightful garden. Nonetheless, I would heartily recommend your Inn.

We have stayed here numerous times and in various rooms each year when we attend the Annual Greyhound Gathering in February. We love this place because its dog-friendly, clean, well appointed, great location, reasonably priced, and bringing the dogs into the fireplace-lit lounge with us for wine & cheese tasting each evening is priceless. However, they are under new management now and have changed a few things I wish they hadn't. 1) They used to leave the doors to their breakfast area open in the evening and coffee & tea service available, and now they do not. I used to really enjoy sitting in the lounge at night with a nice cup of tea while my hubby enjoys the wine-tasting. 2) Like many here who have mentioned, the beds are way too soft; they need to upgrade to firmer, more supportive mattresses (and better pillows). And 3) Michelle, who used to host the wine-tasting every evening, is no longer there. While I'm sure that may not be within the hotel's control, its worth a mention, as we had become really friendly with her over the years and always looked forward to seeing her every time we stayed. Although the new host is wonderful, I will really miss Michelle, she had become a mainstay, and someone I always looked really forward to seeing each time we visited. Aside from that, this is the best place in town, and we will return again and again.

We loved the location and the ambiance but beds were outdated. My husband and I did not sleep well. All in all it was a great trip.

Mediocre at best. Decent, pretty clean room, within walking distance of everything, and a very nice staff, but that's about all I can say was good. Unfortunately those aspects did not compensate for the cost of the room, the lack of comfort, or the noise. Clearly an older rickety building painted and updated to look new and clean from the outside, and they forgot to update the rooms and structure. The whole place was just noisy between the echoing hallways, paper thin walls, and noisy kids playing in the backyard behind the hotel. I could hear every word spoken in the hallways and outside. Forget any peace when the cleaning staff starts working...VERY loud! Couldn't even take a quick nap. We had the loft room thinking this may cut down on possible noise above us, but that made no difference. The bathroom area in the loft room is downstairs, not upstairs with the bedroom area, which seemed kind of odd...and inconvenient at times. The bed was just OK and I'm not sure if those were pillows or blankets stuffed in a pillow case. No comforter just a pretty thin blanket. I'm glad it wasn't cold when we went. Breakfast...better off finding McDonald's or just going into town where they have plenty of nice places. Sadly, we just never felt completely comfortable in our room. Great place if you're just looking for a place to crash after a day of wine/beer drinking...not so great for a quiet, restful, or romantic weekend. Could be nice, but it just wasn't.

Stayed here 6 years ago during the Taste of Solvang weekend. WE LOVED IT. We stayed in one of the upstairs rooms. It was so nice, romantic, and relaxing. This trip, we decided to splurge again and booked for 3 nights, again for the Taste of Solvang weekend. On our drive from NorCal to Solvang, we received a snippy call from Karena at the front desk... "your credit card did not go thru, we will cancel your reservation immediately if you do not call me back". WOW! I called back within 10 minutes of the voicemail, as we did not hear the call over our conversation on the drive. When I called back, Karena answered, "Wine Valley Inn, this is Karena, I'm with a customer, can I take your name and number and call you back in 10 minutes?" I said, "yes, my name is X and..." Karena immediately cut me off and said, "are you still coming? I need a credit card" I provided a credit card and advised we would arrive around 8pm. When we arrived, Karena sort of gave me the evil eye as she checked us in... (I wanted to say... sometimes things happen and credit cards get frauded between the 4 months ago, when I booked the hotel and the check in day... get over it... but I did not) I just took my key and headed toward what I was expecting to be my gorgeous relaxing, romantic room. NOT!!! We stayed in room 101, basically a room adjoining the back parking lot, appearing to once have been a maid's quarters... in major need of a new bed and a makeover. The bed shook like jello anytime you moved the slightest little muscle, you could see daylight coming in around the AC unit, the walls were as thin as paper (night one we had a couple with a dog next to us - the dog didn't bark, but the man snored like a train, night two we had 2-3 women next to us chatting all night, and night three we had a spicy couple next to us that kept us up late with their panting) - again, paper thin! The carpet was disgusting, we wore shoes or socks the entire time for fear of walking on it. The TV was practically falling off the wall. Half the light switches didn't work. The mirror inthe bathroom was held together with duct tape. The towels were so old they were like sand paper. Thinking back, I am not sure if room 101 is the "punishment" room for patrons with credit issues or what, but I will think very hard about ever staying at the Wine Valley Inn again.

We have stayed at the Wine Valley Inn several times over the last few years. The staff is always friendly and competent, and the rooms are cute and clean. The rooms however, lack consistency. Some have remodeled showers/baths, some do not. Some have window AC units, some do not. You need to know what building to ask for. Also the cottages are very cute, our friends had one this last trip. Good sized living area and kitchenette, fireplace. Some of the Tower rooms also have a living area and fireplace. Again, ask a lot about the room you are booking. The location in town is perfect. You can walk all over Solvang. There is a breakfast included, it's not great but if you want to grab something it's fast and easy. In the evening there is usually wine tasting in the lobby, $6 a glass and a few local varieties. Outside has a cute fireplace and chairs we sat around at night, the weather was perfect this last weekend! The location and staff really are the best parts of the place, and if you are good with being flexible about room configuration - no problem. They are generally spacious and suitably appointed, Ask the front desk if you need any directions, taxis, etc. 5 stars for the staff.

I gave this place 4 stars but I would like to say that it is really very wonderful. The room is simple and unimpressive, but very nice still. The free breakfast in the morning was very nice, it was a beautiful all you can eat spread with an attentive and diligent waitress. For a free breakfast and a room at about 150 it really wasn't bad at all. It doesn't compare to a lot of nicer hotels but it isn't trying to, it is a quieter hotel at the level of a simple Marriott or Residence Inn, but with very friendly staff, a beautiful executed Danish theme and affordable price. My wife and I will definitely stay here again our next time in Solvang!
