A lot of customers ask about our window installation process and what they can expect from a timing perspective.

The first step in our window installation process is taking measurements and providing a free cost estimate. This is important so there are no surprises both on our end (defining the window specifications, materials required, special circumstances or challenges with the install, finishing steps and access to the window site) or the customer's end with the expected price and type of window needed to match the energy efficiency requirements and window style. We have windows of all types and energy efficiency grades including dual pane, triple pane, E-glass and gas filled windows in all frame styles. Custom windows and glass can be cut and framed for odd window openings or older windows that may be discontinued.

Once the window is ordered and delivered, the installation is scheduled and our window technicians come to your home or office to perform the window installation. Upon arrival, the installer will assess the job site and prepare the window glass and materials for the install. We only start a job that can be finished within the same day to ensure your home or office is always secure and an access point is never left unattended. The existing window is removed and the area surrounding the window is prepped to receive the new window.

After the window is hung, the perimeter is sealed with insulating adhesive. Proper function of the window is tested and any finishing work is completed. After the installation is finished, the job site is cleaned up and installation technician will discuss any aspects of the job with the client.

Today's window replacement project review is a remodel project in a North Phoenix mountain home that suffered water damage. Believe it or not Phoenix can get massive rain fall in a short period time during the monsoon season. When the infrastructure of home and the surrounding substructure can't handle the volume of water, water can leak into the roof, attic and walls. If the water is not dried out immediately, mold quickly forms and the home is contaminated. Part of the mold restoration project required gutting walls and replacing structural beams inside the wall structure. The homeowner through it was a good time to redesign the layout of the wall and include energy efficient windows. Superior Glass of Phoenix, Arizona was hired as the window replacement contractor and handled provided the windows and installing them as part of the reconstruction process.

We get a lot of questions, especially from our residential window customers, whether a dual pane window can be salvaged or repaired if only one of the panes (exterior or interior) is chipped, cracked or broken. The general answer is no. In most cases a compromised dual pane window must be replaced due to the insulating properties that both panes serve by sealing air or gas in between the layers of glass. Although minor chips can sometimes be repaired, the seal of the window may have been compromised and allowed moisture in between the layers and the window will cloud during humid days.

This was a gorgeous day we finished a new construction window installation project in North Phoenix. Superior Glass works with area home builders and commercial developers on buid-outs, remodels and new construction projects where cost and quality are very important. This photo was captured after the installation and painting contractor was already putting the finishing touches on the on the window trim we installed. This project required dual pane energy efficient glass and we were responsible for the fit, finish and functionality of each window.

Since it's so blazing hot out I thought I'd share a project we completed in the historic district of downtown Phoenix in the winter of 2014. Don't think I'd get caught right now in a fleece base layer! It was a fun but challenging project as is the case with most older homes needing remodeling. We were able to do some window repair but a majority of the windows needed updating to more energy efficient window systems. The block construction required coordination among several contractors and we all came together as a team to make the project a success.
