William De Morgan Bedford Park Daisy Tiles

Bedford Park, outside London, was the first garden suburb, a fashionable area in the 1880s, created by developer Jonathan Carr with a "village atmosphere" yet be close enough to the city of London proper. The poet W.B. Yeats and painter Camille Pissarro lived there. It sat on 24 acres in West London and was only 30 minutes away by steam train. It was known for its many fine trees. The first architect was Edward William Godwin, a leader in the Aesthetic Movement. Bedford Park is now a conservation area.

It's #AlicesDay ! The original CFA Voysey Alice in Wonderland tiles were done for Minton Co., not Morris & Co. Morris was getting tile from De Morgan when Alice was made. Here are CFA Voysey's original tiles. These and nine others based on Voysey's similar designs on fabric are here: http://williammorristile.com/victorian/voysey_minton_alice_in_wonderland_tiles.html
