Ah well, defended the same Ingress Portal for 22 months, I had a good run. The local augmented reality is crawling with people suddenly, I betcha this was taken out by some multitasking Pokemon chasing punk.
An investment firm bought the 70-year-old company where I have been working for the last 11 years and is shutting down my facility at the end of this year. Friday will be my last day at work. I've already looked at similar options and there are none. I will have to find an entirely new career starting Monday. I will only leave New Orleans to leave the country entirely. I need about $50k/year to not loose my house. Out of the box ideas in morally gray areas will be considered on a risk/reward basis.
I've been waiting to read about someone developing a practical telomere extension treatment since the 90s! Hopefully before this decade is out they will be publicly looking for more test pilots. I wish they would hurry, I'm not getting any younger... yet.
Back in the early Chewbacchus days, we needed a supply cart for the Red Shirt volunteers. At Ankara's suggestion I made one that looked like a photon torpedo, which turned into a rolling "casket of the unknown Red shirt soldier" When I heard the idea going around for a Jazz funeral style get together to honor Leonard Nimoy, I knew I had to be there. I never imagined I would use the casket cart for this, but it seemed like a fitting part of the tribute.
I know it takes awhile for these things to sink in, but it's surprising when they sneak up on you . I was cleaning out my garage yesterday, and I moved a bunch of stuff I had stacked on the casket, and was suddenly gripped with the sad, solid fact that there was no more Leonard Nimoy.
Reading of The Empire Striketh back. Note the mustache on a stick indicating the lady is reading Lando, and the face imprint on the box of nails thing indicating Han is frozen in carbonite at the moment. :)
Look at me still talking, when there's Science to do.
When I was a kid I took things apart to see how they worked. Going to college I had hoped to gain access to the tools to do this to the universe. Now locked in the grind of modern life, I can still take apart my self and put it back together.
